I am starting think about buying another car, I will have mine paid off in a year, I will probably keep it. I am strictly buying used because of deprecation and I can get much more car for the buck, I like sporty cars and have usually owned sporty Sedans, I currently have A Cadillac CTS. I want to stay below 10,000 if it will be a 2nd car and want to get something I have always wanted to own a foriegn sports car or sports sedan but a coup. I like the idea of a older model Porsche 2 door and might trade in my car for a Panamera. I have always like Jaguars but reliability is a factor but would not mind a older XK as a 2nd car or even better a F type for a daily driver. I have always loved Audi's I used to own a 500 series back in the day but the only ones I really like now are the 7's and I know they are hit-and-miss mechanically. Any other sports or sporty type used cars I should be on the lookout for? Anything undervalued or slept on? Any tips about owning an older foreign car and maintenance would be appreciated.
A few thoughts: 1) Isn't the used car market basically not worth it at this point? It feels like that arena is so insane you're not getting the discount you normally would expect vs. new. Granted new cars are selling for top dollar too, but if you're not gonna get any break on the price might as well go new eh? 2) Aren't you a teacher? How the eff you gonna have a leisure car, and for that matter, how the eff you gonna afford to maintain a late model euro sports car? Seems like signing up for a money pit is not a great idea if you're on a civil servant salary.
1) I'm not sure there're too many things "undervalued" in this market. 2) No such thing as a 2-door Panamera (yet) 3) Did you really mean $10,000? If so, you need to change what kind of car you're looking for. I don't think you'll get a relatively-newer performance German car for that. If you do, I wouldn't trust it. Your repairs for the first 2-3 years may probably be more than that. lol. jk... (ok, only slightly) 4) Only tip I have for owning older German performance cars is pray you get lucky and have a good mechanic or you can do your own work, otherwise prepare to pay.
Only thing I can think of is a late 1990's or early 2000's BMW 3 series coupe. But not sure that falls under your definition of "sporty" for under $10k. Decently shaped 350z's could be had for under $10k. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Does not compute. Add an extra 0 to that price and you can talk. Probably set aside 5k a year for repairs to be safe.
He could get a sports car that doesn't run and just parks it in the driveway to say he has a cool sports car. It has its downsides.
classic Yugos are in the right price range but people tend to snap them up quick a Houston convertible went for 12k https://www.classic.com/m/yugo/
Go to Lowes or any hardware store, go down the aisle with the mailboxes and chrome letterings/numbers, pick up a chrome letter V with the adhesive back, stick it on right after your CTS emblem on the trunk lid and most importantly- IMAGINE!!!!!
It looks like you could get a decent 2010 370Z for around 17k. I don't know anything about them, but they look still look good, IMO.
Like I said my car will be paid of this year and I am looking to get something for less than 10'000. I also said I will wait for the market to settle. A lot of late model euro sports cars have already had major issues fixed, and they all are not money pits, especially for a 2nd car. Donny if you had read what I actually posted, most of your questions would have been answered.
Those things have shot up in value, more than just this car bubble were in. I still kick myself for not buying a Lotus Elise about 4 years ago. I couldve had a 2005 model from 25-30. Now theyre stupid.
Co-worker traded his mint 4door silverado to the dealership for a brand new F-150 $40k. His payments are $400 for 8 years and his car value trade-in was 15K. The math ain't right
I used to have a Lexus RC-F.... Thing is seriously quick with the reliability of a Corolla... I miss it but I'm enjoying my current car because I like manual....
You're right. Less likely to be abused by a kid too. Here's a convertible I found for just over $12k.
With that $10k figure, you're just going to have to get lucky and find an unexpected deal. That, or buy a shell and rebuild it. Still, that would end up being over $10k I bet. I wish you good luck! The only way I can help is to offer this: instead of $10k on a superfluous car, send me $5k. That way you save $5k and my wife gets lasik. Win-win.
