Doubt Gordon plays much the rest of the way. Gotta get that Plantair feeling right for the off-season.
He was at the FT line the entire time he never was actually guarding the guy at the 3 point line, and he was two steps away from the guy who was in the mid post. I know it seems I am constantly ragging on Chet, but nothing in that clip is outstanding, he never left the lane and was never 3 steps away from the guy he blocked. And the guy he blocked is what 6'7 at the most? We got to start talking about his game honestly and stop saying everything is amazing that he does.
The guy he was guarding was absolutely above the 3 pt line. Do you see defenders past the line often?
I really hope the committee seeds the Zags bracket with a diverse set of athletic potential matchups at forward I want to see how he handles Keegan, Liddell or Eason - all likely fellow 1st-rounders Chet's in-conference matchups are so overwhelmed generally That's not his fault, and he's doing what he should to the inferior competition - total devastation Just need to keep the context when his ridiculous stats/highlights look like a video game night after night Makes it so much more meaningful to see him handle next-level athletes and skill in the tourney Paulo and Jabari are getting tested regularly in their respective confs
Yeah, I want to see him against higher level too. I’m not overly worried about it, he’s went against the best in the world and has been just as dominant.
If the Rockets end up with a top 3 pick then I am really hoping for Banchero. The guy reminds me of a marriage between Carmelo's game in a more athletic Carlos Boozer's body. I think he is almost an assured 20/8. He doesnt have the defensive ability of Chet or Jabari but I have very few questions about what he does well. Stone needs this pick to hit.
I think he is Blake Griffin without the explosive vertical So basically late-Clips and Pistons Blake And he's starting from that point at age 20 because he will never be the athlete Griffin was in his Sooner days He's more skilled at this age, but I fear he may be the NBA version of a Saban Bama prospect - A dominant college player who arrives with fully developed physique, highly polished skill set, and possibly maxed out as a rookie Surrounded by nothing but other future pros while playing teams of mostly students on athletic scholarships, many worts can be masked when your team almost always has a huge advantage in all 5 ind matchups on the court Saban delivers finished products to the draft who seem to rarely exceed their draft slot or prospect hype Coach K's Devils program has a similar history recently Is Paulo another one? I'm not even sure he's the best Blue Devil in this draft I am falling in love with AJ's well-rounded, blossoming game as a wing Tatum and Ingram are great, but they're wings Kyrie is too when he's actually on the court, but runs point Among the bigs, Zion could be if he puts down the fried Twinkies, but since Elton Brand ... Boozer Okafor Parker Bagley Carter Giles McRoberts Lots of blue chip recruits A few top3 picks Mostly NBA disappointment
I think you raise some legitimate concerns. Undoubtedly, Banchero is the lower ceiling/higher floor prospect between the 3. I just feel like Banchero is almost a sure thing above average/near allstar 4. With Chet I worry that if he doesnt bulk up he will be broken by guys that outweigh him by 60 or 70 lbs or, alternatively, by putting on the weight he will need he becomes an injury risk a la so many big men in the past. He not only has to bulk up but he has to hit that sweet spot. With Jabari I just am not sure if he is a guy you build an offense around or if he just the ultimate floor spreader. I think you have to project a bit to justify him at #1 but I think there's a lot to like and nothing that screams he is unlikely to be really good. With the state of the rebuild I just dont see how Stone can miss on this pick and not be a in a really difficult spot. That's why I go Banchero. Edit: But honestly my favorite draft scenario is walking away with Griffin and Eason as the 3/4 of the future between Green and Sengun (followed by Banchero and Kendall Brown)
What we as a team need to understand is that, if we draft someone who is not a good defender, we're royally doinked.
Yeah he was and Chet was at the FT line so he was closer to the guy he blocked than the guy at the 3 point line, the tweet made it seemed like he ran from the 3 point line to make a block when he was just out of the lane. I have no idea why you are trying to argue here, do you think he did something spectacular? I would have been more impressed if he blocked the 3 point shooter from that position.
So top of the circle is the free throw line? He was guarding a dude at the 3 and was able to go from 19/20 feet out to block a layup
He is more skilled than Griffin already, and you have to grade every prospect on their own merits and bigs are always a bust risk high in the draft it's not Duke thing. Boozer has an above average NBA player, so I don't know why he made the list.
Yeah Boozer outplayed his draft slot and had a 4-5 year run as an All-Star I still think of him as unfulfilled promise more than anything Couldn't win at Duke and played his way from lotto to 2nd round Couldn't deliver as Pippen to LeBron's MJ in CLE Then couldn't keep his word and tricked Cavs into releasing him from contract Couldn't deliver Jazz next Malone-Stockton HoF tandem with Deron Retired early with afterthought career of what could have been EDIT: I almost forgot THE most memorable and embarrassing thing about Carlos Boozer ... That weird, brief window of time when he was using shoe polish to hide his balding head Nothing else he has, is , or will do could ever define him more than that bizarre **** I'm hoping for much more from whomever we draft first in June
I agree with all of this. I think people are nitpicking Banchero because he is the most polished, and people are looking at the upside of everybody else. I was impressed by Banchero's play making this last game against WF and his play making is never talked about, it's the difference between Melo and Banchero. Plus, Banchero is a better athlete and physical specimen.
That's the thing though Boozer had a better career than 50% of the top 5 picks since he was drafted, so it's not a very realistic hope.
Banchero is limited defensively. With Green and Sengun that’s a non starter. Had the Rockets smartly taken Mobley or Barnes, he would make sense.
It would have been interesting to hypothesize on a slim towers Holmgren-Mobley combo. Banchero-Mobley would also be about as well balanced a big man combo as you could find.
