My Canadian friends say they are tired of Trudeau and that they were initially supportive of the truckers, but that (as portrayed by the media) some bad apples infiltrated the truckers which now makes it hard to still support them.

However, wanting them to go home doesn't mean also supporting Trudeau stealing their assets (without as much as a court order) like the Chinese government would.

Typical move by disingenuous leftists like Sammyboi - misrepresent someone else's position. When you cannot keep up intellectually, which is unfortunately ambulance chaser ScamFisher's problem - smear them.

 

The provision to freeze assets isn't that controversial here. The reason for this is that the government couldn't get court orders to limit funding fast enough as protestors could constantly switch banks. So the emergencies act just allows the government to directly issue orders to banks to speed up the process.

You have to understand that it became clear early on that a majority of this funding was coming from outside of Canada and that in turn poisoned the perception of these rallies. This is yet another example of how the truckers screwed the whole thing up. By openly allying with the American right and accepting funding from the US, it fed right into the hands of the government. This went from a basic protest against Canadian pandemic restrictions into an extension of American right wing conservatism.

So in turn, the government became the defenders of Canada because the protestors were now an extension of American right. And this also has the counter-productive effect of increasing support for pandemic restrictions because Canadians don't want to be perceived as governing like the US. I'll say it again but we'll actually have restrictions lifted slower because of these morons.

You are describing why the government likes it for their own convenience and practicality, but do you realize how much of a violation of the constitutional rights of those affected that is?
