The Cavs don't have as many holes to fill as us. It's one of the main reasons Mobley is thriving there. If they were in our position then yes, they would be doing it wrong.
The cavs going into the season had just as many question marks as any other bad team in the league including the rockets. Except well they now have Allen, who the rockets completely dropped the ball on lol. Are you going to act like the cavs aren't coming off 22,19,19 win seasons. Lets stop acting like you knew the cavs would be 35-22 and 3rd seed in the east at this point. nobody did. They had holes all across the board still going into the season without a doubt because none of those previous seasons told the cavs they filled a hole
Agreed, I think how they treat the offseason will be telling. I wouldn't mind offering Tate an extension for a reasonable contract.
It might be the only smart move unless they just get an absolute steal with KPJ which I doubt they'll get. Oddly enough I think KPJ's agent will use the MICHAEL Porter Jr. contract extension as his comp which sounds insane but you look at his age, production, and upside & it's what I would argue for if I was KPJ's agent. With Tate it's a little more unclear where the league will comp him as a role player. Something that looks more like what Theis got might be a possibility. I think there's a deal there that might make sense for both side, and lock him in as an asset and not a bloated (& some would say unearned) contract like MPJ's... which is what KPJ's agent will be demanding at this stage.... which is a "lock up a future superstar now before he blows up" contract. I have no confidence that KPJ will be that good in the future yet. Wood extension is a hard no regardless, and if Stone did that I would go to the next Mavs game (won't root for them. Won't wear apparel... might put on a blue shirt... maybe) just to revolt. Kind of makes me nauseous just thinking about it but either way I don't think I can handle the thought of watching Christian freaking Wood start for the Rockets another 5 years.
They didn't have holes across the board. Garland upped his play to all star level in his 3rd season and they added other capable PG's like Rubio and Rondo. We don't have one legit PG on our roster. Feel free to visit any of the threads crying about passing on Mobley. Great breakdowns of what the Cavs have to help bigs succeed that we don't.
yea except we STILL dont have a pg to make any system work. We STILL have have eric gordon and christian wood sitting on their asses after the deadline Why even have a gm at this point
they sure did. teams coming off 3 years worth of 20 wins seasons are now where near filling holes. There teams sucked. and absolutely nobody knew they would be what they are now. just because you get to see on 2/15/22 that the cavs are in a solid position and seemingly on a good track now suddenly, doesn't mean they absolutely didn't have a ton of question marks
such a badly recycled excuse. Detroit had a better record than us and got the number 1 pick Its just luck. There is nothing smart or calculated about it
There is definitely a mathematic calculation involved in giving yourself the best odds at getting a top 4 pick. It's lucky to keep your pick but it's not luck to put yourself in a position to have the best odds to keep your pick. Allen could have made us better than the Wolves record wise and we would have given up our pick. To just say we could have had Mobley and Allen just like the Cavs is ignoring that mathematically the odds of us keeping a top 3 pick aren't high if we end up with a different record.
the cavs had a better roster to begin with, added allen and still drafted mobley We put all our eggs on a coin flip
Allen is all our eggs? The trading of Allen helped us get Christopher and probably led to getting KPJ all while giving us the best odds to keep our pick which we did. I'm fine with the gamble and the result.
