Harden and Embiid complement each other well on the court on the offensive end and they both have high IQ's. It will be interesting to see how this works out. Embiid is someone that can take a lot of criticism and arguing, which is what is going to happen with Harden. He is someone that will jaw at his teammates, he just doesn't like it when he is consistently yelled at. Offensively this will work really well. The Sixers still have a lot of three point shooters on the roster so the spacing will be very good and Rivers will let Harden and Embiid do what they want on the offensive end. There isn't going to be any situations where Rivers dictates what they run or do as long as Embiid and Harden are happy. Where there could be some issues is on the defensive end. While the Sixers are still a team with a lot of defensive talent, they tend to like to play a lot of man defense and Harden is best in a switching system. I think with Thybulle and Embiid they likely will be able to cover for him most of the time. Lets see how Maxey does with Harden on the floor. Really injuries are the biggest issue because at 100% Embiid and Harden are capable of winning a title..... if Harden wins a title he will be a hero in Philadelphia for decades, but if he starts to complain he will see his career compared to Dominique Wilkins.
Imagine the conversation when Harden tells Morey, Tad, ownership that he wants Embiid out. Will be pretty awkward when he finds out he is no longer the preferred player .
KD isn't Curry but he moves a ton of ball. His favorite play is coming off the curl screen to catch the ball at the nail or free throw line extend and rise and fire. As for the dumbass comment, again I wasnt making an assertion but rather making a rhetorical point. Which is IF the reports of Harden not playing with effort, checking out, partying being late and "quitting" on the team are TRUE then his actions aren't justified just because Kyrie is also making poor choices.
Like I said the possession usually ends with him, and you just made my point. It's very telling that there was not a peep about this until he was traded but hey if you want to label him a dumbass so bad more power to you.
Yeah, all these are standard new guy coming in "I love this team. I love this city..." talk. The "Philly was my original choice" thing sounds contradictory to what was reported. Somebody is not telling the truth. Or maybe it's also just standard "I love this team" talk.
Worse than Dominique, who never complained and was beloved by most. This is the last stop in trying to create another narrative surrounding him, and for some it still will not change.
Harden is bullshitting. All his Brooklyn love affair is well documented. I know @Nook usually feeds us solid stuff, but I am not convinced he wanted Phili first. I guess the only thing that can make that credible is his relationship with the Philadelphja owner, because the Brooklyn plan came up prior to Morey quitting Houston when Harden was training with KD.
Moses Malone was heavily involved in winning their last one, albeit being 40 years ago. The Sixers won 3 of them even. It's not like Lebron winning the first one in franchise history in Cleveland, not the same for the Sixers. I think Embiid would still be their best player.
Agree with most of this. I see them operating like the 2018 rockets with CP3 and Harden, each an offense unto themselves with occasional interplay. My concerns (aside from defense as you mentioned) would be how Doc rests Harden and Embiid. He's notorious for not staggering and playing all bench units. Some other possible concerns would be how Harris, Maxey, thybulle fare as spot up shooters. They both have good % on catch and shoot, but very low volume. In fact all of them except Green are shooting very low volume, which the rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast attributes partly to missing Simmons, so Harden should alleviate that somewhat.
Nets trying hard to scapegoat JH. For anyone who has actually followed them it’s pretty comical. Especially the part about Nash drawing up plays. Lol.
KD ending his possession of the ball quickly by either scoring or passing doesn't mean he is a ball stopper. The definition of a ball stopper is someone who holds the ball and thereby prolong a possession. Classic examples would be Carmelo, Iverson, Harden and Westbrook. Why are you so hung up on an offhand comment that wasnt even meant to be all that serious or literal.
Yep. He’s mentally broke AF when comes to shooting the ball. Other than that I believe the 76ers hurt his feelings when they told him that.
Serious mental health issues - believable Serious mental health issues that precludes him from working in Philadelphia - doubtful.
Lots of bitterness to go around. But your consistent outpouring of it certainly stands out. Harden was always selfish and passive-aggressive and only loyal to those that were loyal to him. If people didn't see it and didn't expect that he'll jump ship one day when things get rough, it's really on them. The 500 pages and trying to see who is the bad guy is pretty nuts. Everyone is a bad guy in some way because everyone is out for himself when sh*t hits the fan. There is no major player in this drama that can be called a "good guy". Perhaps Sean Marks is ok - he built a pretty good team after the worst trade of the century in Brooklyn a decade or so ago.
I said that already in a previous post and I said ball stopper is not a good description of Durant, but he is not a free flowing offensive player which was mu point and Harden was the main reason others were involved in the offense but for some reason he is being painted as the reason the offense was not free flowing. Who else on that team was going to be free flowing?
With the way everything has played out, I would not say no, but then I don't know what serious should mean. Something ain't right with that boy.
