kemp's law dictates how public schools in Georgia operate. Private schools can set their own standards.

And if parents don't want their children to be around other unmasked children but still want them to go to school what then?

SO much of this argument is framed around "Freedom" and we don't want governments making authoritarian decisions. But we are for using the force of law to compel private businesses to not be able to enact their own rules.

The difference is that they can determine whether their own children wear a mask, but they should not force others to make the same choice. Simple.

You are right. Anyway, in principle, I agree that private schools should be able to set their own standards. I'm sure most of them will make masks optional, very soon. Because it is obviously the only correct decision.

So, what was the point of the last 2 pages of this thread?

Georgia is doing something Florida has been doing for months.
Private schools should be able to set their own masking requirements - (which you apparently agree with)
Neither Georgia nor Florida are trying to impose government restrictions on private schools (nor should they)

Children shouldn't have to wear masks in school, and it is a growing trend that more and more states realize this.

    But it's not child abuse.

You want gubment to enforce your standards and your version of freedom, nothing more.

Kids wear masks in Japan, not hindering them at all, this is pure whininess....

Parents and their children should make their own decisions. That's freedom.

It's not freedom to force children, especially small ones, to wear a mask all day. When it comes to the youngest ones, it is definitely detrimental to their social development and to their health.

So yes, I want governments to ensure freedom.

You can all argue against me now, but very soon, you will all be on the losing side of that argument. Masks will at best be optional then, rightly so.

All you "but Asia"..."but the children don't mind, it's no big deal" folks...you are wrong. And you will not win.

We're arguing for the protection of students, teachers, and other school staff.

You seem to be arguing less about the safety of children and more for the politics... and for you "winning". If children under 5 are allowed to have their parents to choose to mask or not, you then extend that to include all students. So the safety of children, or even speech development isn't your concerns but rather the political debate over masking.

I am arguing based on evidence. There is zero evidence that hospital admissions due to Covid are at all higher in mask optional regions compared to mask mandatory regions. Zero. You have no basis for your argument. Masks in schools do not increase anyone's safety.

I am not surprised though that the type of leftist teachers union folks, which seem to be slightly overrepresented here on the forum, mainly view children as vectors of disease and happily would want to force masks on them forever.

Even Gavin Newsom wants to get rid of masks in schools. It's only the teachers unions who are looking for excuses to be lazy and restrict children's rights, once again.
