Again why is this a thing? It says it was based on science. Not on the protests.

 

I find it hard to believe that the right wingnut SCWs give two ***** about anything Canadian. This is just partisan nonsense.

 

First the US federal system is different than the Canadian but Trump did use federal forces to clear protesters in DC.

Here in Minneapolis that was rocked by a week of protests following the death of George Floyd the state did clear out many protests that blocked of roads with most of those protests not violent. A friend of mine was arrested on I-94 pretty close to my house. These protests were cleared after a few hours and weren't allowed to linger for days. I and most people in Minnesota supported clearing those protests eventually.

What I still haven't gotten an answer though is why is protests blocking traffic such a bad thing that politicians like DeSantis have spoken out against it repeatedly and even passing more severe penalties against it including laws that make it easier for drivers to kill protesters blocking traffic:

I don't like any blocking of streets.

I also do not like leftist anti-freedom authoritarians freezing assets of people just because they disagree with illiberal forced measures.

Why are protests tactics that have long been used by other groups and condemned by many on the Right now not only acceptable but celebrated? Why are tactics long been used by LE and even encouraged and strengthened by many on the Right now so horrible?

I don't believe in that.

I do think that Trudeau is a self-absorbed narcissist who thinks very highly of himself and has lost touch with the actual working class. Power has gone to his head. He should be voted out at the next opportunity.

 

I wouldn't go that far and believe me when I say that the trucker protests were not representative of the working class. Canada's demographics and culture is different from the US.

But I do believe that Trudeau doesn't read the room very well sometimes and can do (and say) some stupid things. I think he wants to model himself after Obama but Obama was a far more thoughtful and grounded personality.

Trudeau has the luxury of governing a country where modern Conservatism isn't particularly popular and he always decides to use the moment to make enemies and to criticize the opposition in pretty divisive ways. In some ways, he talks more like Trump than Obama because he lacks Obama's refinement and diplomacy so he just sounds mean spirited sometimes (which is more like Trump). It's weird to think but the way Trudeau talks about the convoy sounds closer to the way Trump talks about BLM protestors.
