Glad you’re better. I got hit by a lightning bolt from above this past month , joked about how omicron was nothing and most people were getting sniffles (had covid early 2020 and 2/2 vaccines, in good shape, younf).

3 weeks ago I had a fever of 104 and sweats, shaking chills to the point I’ve thrown out Half my clothes and 2 comforter sets. Good days and bad days but still occasionally getting chills and profound fatigue. Almost died from malaria on a trip to Africa and can say that the first 4 days of this were on par. Was treating a ton of covid patients with false negative tests so who knows maybe the viral load I got made it that bad. I also didn’t boost which in hindsight was probably a mistake

F*ck, I'm in pain just reading all that. Glad you're still posting. Hope you make a swift recovery with as minimal as possible pain to endure. Sounds rough right now though.

I hope DeSantis follows suit, if necessary.

Why would DeSantis need to follow suit?

So that children in Florida cannot get forced to wear masks by their schools.

That's been the case here for public schools for a while now.

But not for all private ones. When I visited the school my daughter just got accepted to, all the little ones were wearing masks.

So should private schools be regulated like public schools?

Why should a private "business" be unable to enforce their own rules?

If you don't like their rules, make another choice.

First of all, I am confident they will get rid of the masks before she starts. Also, I like the school. They probably had some unions or some overly concerned parents who influenced their decision at the time.

Private institutions operate within the framework the law gives them.

And I am not making a decision which might be for the next 12 years based on a hopefully temporary misguided measure.

Again, shouldn't a private business be allowed to set their own non-discriminatory guidelines?

If I own a restaurant, shouldn't I be able to require patrons to wear a mask?

We've been hearing a lot in Florida about parents concerned about their education. FL just passed a law that would ban teaching things that caused parents discomfort in Public School. Shouldn't parents then who are uncomfortable about having children maskless also have an option?

How is it advancing freedom if even for a private entity, that you are not compelled by force of law to go to, the owners and management cannot decide what rules they feel are necessary for safety?

So much for parental choice then.

Parental choice means that the parents choose whether their children wear a mask or not. That's what Governor Kemp's law ensures.

If parents don't want to follow the rules of a private business, there are plenty of other options.

It's weird that you want to force a private business to succumb to the government for a non-discriminatory practice.

Doesn't this become one of those "slippery slope" arguments? First they force the private school to follow the mask rules, what's to stop them from forcing the private school to alter their curriculum?

What union dictates how private schools operate? And if a group of parents (or as you describe them, "overly concerned parents") expressed safety concerns, isn't that a positive that the private school took those concerns in consideration when they set their own safety standards? Again, you can always choose another private school with less concern about safety... that's your free choice. Sounds like you simply want to dictate how this private business operates.
