The "experienced, in house option" was not a candidate until the Flores suit and the backlash against McCown.
That’s just an assumption though right? People keep talking like they know for sure, nothing came out from the Texans
The Texans announced numerous head coaching interviews over the entire process. From Hines Ward to McCown, Flores and Gannon and others. Lovie Smith was never mentioned. Matter of fact, Caserio was non-committal about Smith returning as DC in the press conference after the season ended.
He was consulted throughout the process…all they have to say is “after consultation we decided he was our best option.”
All the talking heads have said they were set to hire Mccown before the Flores lawsuit. They really were. Lovie was probably their sixth choice.
It astounds me how people are still willing to give Texans the benefit of the doubt despite their horrible track record.
I’m giving Caserio the benefit of the doubt. He’s been tight lipped. I’m not trusting the rest of them, and damn sure not trusting media like some of you that eat the gossip up
Caserio not only allowed McCown to be interviewed, allowed him to be a finalist, and would have hired him if not for Brian Flores. Caserio isn't driving the clown car, but he is certainly along for the ride. He certainly isn't someone that deserves the benefit of the doubt or someone I could remotely trust.
They literally was being transparent announcing all of their candidate interviews and finalists. All of a sudden smith came out of nowhere. But sure. "Nothing came out from the texans"
Why did Lovie Smith need to be interviewed? What did the Texans not know about Lovie Smith that only a formal interview would reveal?
When did the Texans say that they were set to hire one of those three candidates? Do you have a link to that because I must have missed it. Thanks in advance. Why would it matter if he was disqualified because of the lawsuit? Most other teams disqualified him before the lawsuit.
They weren’t being transparent. They tweeted after they interviewed people and not even all of them. The first KOC interview wasn’t announced but it had to have happened to get the second interview during playoffs.
They never said they were set to hire the three finalists but even Lovie Smith sort of admitted that he was a late entry to the process. As associate head coach, he went from being consulted about who the Texans were interviewing to becoming the prime candidate. He said, "I don't know when I became a finalist." Gee, I wonder what changed? Watch here how he answers the question by trying to remain as honest as he can while not making the Texans look bad. Also, it is illegal to not hire someone because they filed a discrimination lawsuit against a previous employer.
Theyre going to have a hard time proving that he wasn’t hired because of that. Opinion isn’t fact. Just because someone thinks Flores was more qualified doesn’t make it true. That’s extremely subjective.
I hope the lawsuit gets to the discovery phase where the Texans will have to turn over emails and other electronic messages for investigation. They're going to have to explain: (1) Why exactly was Lovie the hire despite not being one of the announced finalists and (2) Why did they cancel plans to hire Josh McCown. Their entire process will be scrutinized and I want all the details to be exposed.
You want something to have happened that may not have happened. If they had no intention of hiring McCown as head coach or them actually coming out and saying who is a finalist; then none of what you are wanting matters. The truth is you want ownership to be bad people so they can sell. When they haven’t proven to be bad people. Incompetent? Yes. What that does is make you look like a piece of crap for wanting someone to hurt or damage others because you don’t like their ownership style.
Also, I hope it gets to discovery and makes Flores look like a clown for falsely accusing teams of being racist because he felt he deserved something others didn’t. He’s throwing a hissy fit from entitlement.
So you don’t even agree with Flores, you just don’t like the Texans. Again, can you point me towards the announcement of finalists?
