Dave Chappelle successfully torpedoes affordable housing in Ohio

True but he didn't give any specific feedback about the plan until after the controversy.

 

Actually affordable housing has either no impact on housing value, or actually a positive impact on housing value based on studies done. But the perception (false) is that they lower housing value.

I do own property and it's not complex stuff. I also don't know why owning or not owning property has anything to do with this debate.


I don't begrudge Dave Chapelle for not wanting poor people in his neighborhood - and let's be honest that is what it is. His PR person's criticism of the plan is bogus - the plan was a small development that was actually well put together and had a nice park, it would have had a lot more character than what will replace it - tract housing. I know enough about real estate to know that long terms - tract housing developments fair worse in the property market than mixed housing and unique developments.

So Dave is wrong as a business man here - he's making the wrong decision as the tract housing actually hurts but no one will care or know the difference. And it has no impact on how I view him - he's still my favorite comedian. But he was never my morale compass like he is for others. I think he does good in the community through his charitable efforts, and just because he falls into the same trap as most well to do people in how he views affordable housing, I don't begrudge him for that.

He could or he couldn't, maybe very good reasons, maybe very bad, maybe in a grey area.

Also I think it is more like the people building it was from outside of the community
They did not want the outsiders manipulating their community
