Out of fear of Harden leaving. Whether or not he would have actually forced his way out is another story. Basically the Rockets traded CP3, 2 FRP and 2 Swaps for Harden and WB that Summer in their minds. There is no other explanation. In fairness, look how quickly he forced his way out of Houston after that disastrous trade anyways and look how quickly he forced his way out of Brooklyn. Tilman made the trade because he thought Harden was gone if not. He was wrong because Harden was gone either way. It was a terrible decision and Tilman is the only one who deserves the blame because even if it was because of Harden, he let a player bully him into failing. If I could go back in time I would trade Harden to LAC for Shai and all the picks and been in the spot OKC is in now. Only the Rockets have a market that will eventually attract free agents if one of these picks turns into a star. 85% of the fanbase gave up on CP3 and were ecstatic Russ was coming. I remember you and I were furious. It's the worst day I can remember as a Rockets fan who loves trades. I never have seen a worse one.
I am so sorry to hear about your medical situation. To be so injured that you were not able to witness any of the 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons or the roster moves and the win totals. That must be very bad indeed!
you just made this up. You have no clue if someone would hire him or not. And whether someone would or wouldn’t … at this point, is also impacted by the fact that he’s family of ownership of another team. We have no clue whether he’s capable at his job or not…
In my view … in many things in life it’s not how you perform on a daily basis but how you perform at key moments. for Tillman… it comes down 100% to CP3 for Russ. for Stone it MIGHT come down 100% to JG over Mobley. I don’t really have much problem with Tillman beyond that move. For the most part it sounds to me that he lets those with power in the organization provide tons of input/get what they want. He’s not super meddlesome otherwise. once the CP3 move sent us on our path… we are kind of inevitably here. We’d be here with any owner I think at that point. Losing MDA isn’t. A key moment lol. Let’s not pretend like he’s such a hot coaching prospect he’s immediately getting hired after he left. He didn’t. There have been many openings. Or that he outcoached the other coaches deep in the playoffs. He didn’t.
Or it could have nothing whatsoever to do with generational differences and be strictly about the difference between Simmons and Horry. I mean, your sample size here is exactly 2.
OKC is one of the few more miserably unwatchable teams there are than us. In fact, they are below the salary floor. They actually have to pay $23 million to their current gang of no-hopers (Poku! Gabby Deck!) at the end of the season. You don't want to be OKC. You never want to be OKC. And lol, 85% of people didn't want Russ. There's polls on this site that say otherwise.
See... Frittata's problem is typical of many highly successful people - including actors, athletes, the rich in general, etc... They get that crowd of 'yes men' around them and they lose touch with reality. They lay out their bs to people who's paycheck is dependent on them and get supported - instead of the push back they should get... and they start to either believe their own bs or they come to believe they are so sly that they can convince others of their bs...
idk man... i mean yeh, Frittata ultimately pulled the trigger and deserves a good bit of grief... but James was the reason we were even in the room having the conversation... Obviously, WB wasn't a Morey desire... If Harden hadn't had issue with CP3, we wouldn't have been on the lot kickin tires in the first place... and how much of Frittata's decision to pull the trigger was based on him trying to placate Harden? If yer Frittata, you gotta view Harden as your cash cow - and you wanna keep him happy... He's not happy with CP3 - and he wants WB... that's a helluva motivator to pull the trigger. Like I say... Frittata deserves a good bit of grief... but Harden was the reason he was even in the situation to make such a boneheaded call...
LMAO! Imagine little Patrick putting the past 4 years of management on a resume and trying to get a job even running a Taco Bell. “Yeah, so I got this top job with no experience, alienated everyone around me, ran out my best talent, quickly turned around the best performing organization into - literally - the worst, and became a laughingstock to all my peers. When do I start?”
I think I have a pretty good clue. And yes, Captain Obvious, he is the son of the owner of the Rockets so he can't bump around the NBA (which is part of the problem and making my point)--but if he submitted a resume with the name Patrick Fertillian he still wouldn't get hired, especially if he got an interview--unless, of course, he was trying to get on as wait staff at a Tilman restaurant. I doubt he would get hired as a card dealer in a casino.
I'll add that his only experience can only ever come from being in this front office. He can't learn what to do and what not to do from other teams. (Same with Stone by the way.) That's a problem because what is screwed up can become the norm without other references. You also have no reservoir of ideas and different experiences to build on. In my job we have a saying: If you have 10 years of experience in the same place, you have 1 year of experience 10 times.
