    I'm good with Chet too.

Barring that, Griffin and Ivey are good fall backs.

Even Stone should not be able to screw up a top 5 pick in this draft.

Unless Silas and Patrick absolutely have their heart set on Shaedon Sharpe.

    Or Paolo Banchero.

Tbf I was saying I'd take Chet (and Emoni) over anyone in the 2021 draft all the way back in 2020. Chad Ford and Givony and the like were saying the same thing leading up to that last draft.

Im assuming he went into a gm meeting and they were like "WTF are you?". So he went back and thought "I know how to alleviate this problem. These assholes are gonna know who I am, gawdammit."

Personally I’m far more disappointed we didn’t move wood than Gordon. I was really looking forward to the offense opening up and removing the biggest ball stopper on the team. Not trading them plus bringing in another vet with issues that’s going to take minutes from the rooks just makes it that much more disappointing. I think Eric is getting sucked into that vortex of disappointment and it’s probably unfair to him. Imo you had to move one of them at the very least.

Folks are way too agitated about this. There’s no intrinsic value to a late first that you can automatically redeem it to defer it a year or package it to move up. You always have to find a trade partner. A late first in a shallow draft is better than nothing but it’s not that great, especially with our situation where we have a good amount of promising younger players on a cheap deal, several draft picks coming, but need to swing for the fences.

If you hold out sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Stone got more from the Nets waiting for them to up their offer for Harden. Ditto for Morey trading Simmons.

If it didn’t work this time and we trade Gordon for a second in the off-season or at the deadline next year instead this really isn’t that big of a deal.

I’m just messing around! All in fun. I’m just excited we may actually draft someone with height if we stay in the top three.

Outside of the draft, I look forward very much to asking Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace to come out of retirement to help solve our defensive woes with that big thesis money.

Stone says Gordon is happy, and likes the process?

    WHAT?

We do not need a guy at the end of his prime that is happy to settle for this team - that alone shows he has basically given up on winning a ring, and is content in just playing ball - that is not someone you want as an example for the younger guys.

And, it makes it worse that we did not trade him - I love EGO, but his time in the league as a starting level player is almost up, we need to move him ASAP, not have him showing the young guys it is ok to lose and be complacent.

    YUCK !

Paolo would be awesome. It just would require more tinkering with the roster.

Any top 5 player and I'm thrilled. I'm not sure if Sharpe ends up entering the draft.

Jabari, Chet and AJG are my three favorite additions though.

What would Morey have done in this same situation?

That seems unlikely to happen. Gordon would've been traded for a late first. Who would ever trade a future first for a late first now? OKC could just trade their pick for the future first directly if that's what they wanted.

I don't believe it's that simple as what Stone is trying to sell the fanbase, and I'm sure EG's opinion on the matter is much more nuanced. In the end we can't get in his head to know how he feels, but we do know the guy is a professional athlete, and has some minor level of competitiveness in his DNA not to mention Freaking pride. Stone really shouldn't be speaking on his behalf like this, and when he does it doesn't come off as genuine.

It's perfectly reasonable to believe that EG loves Houston, loves his teammates, has really enjoyed himself this season, says all the right things when he talks to managers, and at the same time could be sitting at home this weekend with the Rockets on one channel and Philly on League Pass and he gets a text from his agent as well as his friend who worked for and still has connections with the Sixers saying how sweet it would be to see him on the court playing off of Embiid instead of Danny Green....

Then he goes to sleep that night, and on Monday morning asks Stone for a buyout. That's how quick these things can happen, and I don't buy for 2 seconds that Stone is sooooo tight with EG that he knows exactly how he feels about the situation, and I don't get how fans here are so confident about how Gordon is going to react to not being traded and mentally process the reality that he's not going to be playing relevant basketball the next year and a half in what might be his last chance to make one final good paying contract in his career.

    Hmm....

Well he would have hit Whataburger for two patty melts in his black suburban... then he would drive through Wendy's where he passes the guy at the drive up window a $20 to fill up a 44 ounce bottle with chocolate frosty.

Daryl would then drive down Harwin to buy some crystal meth and blow. He would call his wife and tell her he has a zoom meeting and cannot be disturbed. After telling his wife he loves her, he takes a deep breath and drives to Chinatown and pull his vehicle to the back of the parking lot and spark up his meth pipe while slamming his face with the patty melt and drinking the frosty.

After completing his food and vice.... he would say "Let's go!" and turn on his blue tooth and then start frantically calling every GM in the league in an effort to trade Gordon...... 12 hours later he would be covered in sweat from his heater and in the speakers lightly would be playing "Wanna be a baller - shot caller"...... Daryl would complete his trade of Gordon to the Suns for a #1 pick..... he would hang up his blue tooth, take a deep breath and say "DONE".... then call his wife and tell her that he is going to sleep for 24 hours at Tad Brown's house and that he will take her to some crappy Sarte based play on Sunday.

He would then lock his doors, turn his car off and use the patty melt wrapper as a pillow while he falls asleep and hibernates for the next 24 hours. He then wipes the mustard off his beard and drives to the Toyota Center for a press conference... only starting for a 6 pack of Red Bull at Dana Holgreson's house to drink before beginning the press conference. Piss saturates his seat, but his pants are dry by the time he walks in the Toyota Center.

Approaching the podium the blow falls out of a fold in his shirt..... no one knows, he snickers and thinks to himself..... thank god I am a gangsta.

Rafael "um" Stone. I can't listen to him for more than 30 seconds. I thought lawyers were suppose to be articulate.
