I'm actually feet away from the Canadian border right now. Haven't seen any protests and traffic seems very sparse here. Of course this is International Falls, MN and Fort Frances, Ontario, plus it's snowing heavily. It's not Detroit and Windsor.

So I’m stuck near the border. The weather is so bad they can’t land the plane from Minneapolis im supposed to fly back on.

That’s the official story but I’m sure truckers have something to do with it. I’m going to see if I can see trucks blocking the runway. ;)

They're only blocking major shipping corridors. That's why they picked that crossing in rural Alberta. That highway over there supplies all of Alberta and part of Saskatchewan. Similarly, the crossing at North Dakota is being blocked because Winnipeg is totally dependent on that one crossing. They basically chose small crossings that have disproportionate freight traffic along with the Detroit-Windsor crossing.

Supposedly, they're planning on blocking the Fort Erie-Buffalo crossing this weekend.

I know. Am just engaging in some light sarcasm because I am truly stuck on the frozen tundra.

But again just more example of the flyover country mentality..

    Northern Minnesota MATTERS!

    What an idiot.

    A. 90% of these truckers have been inoculated, which is higher than the average for Canada overall.
    B. These truckers are using the power of capitalism as their tool against the centralized power of the Canadian state.

Actually labor protests are the tactics of unions - and are considered by many of your friends to be socialist workers anti-capitalists deviants. Now you are calling them heroes.

Just goes to show how bullshit your politics are

They are not part of a labor union. They are part of a political protest movement, in which they are using their clout in the world of commerce in an effort to free their nation from the tyranny of this sniveling little punk Trudeau and the rest of these collectivist thugs.

So in another words, they aren't a union but are using the exact same tactics of unions.

Actually they're using the same tactics as BLM and anti-war protesters who blocked freeways.

This is purely anecdotal but just posting it because I thought it was interesting.

Delta ended up getting a couple of cab vans to drive the passengers from International Falls to Hibbing, MN to catch another flight back to Minneapolis. The van driver was an older white guy (that's about 49.9% of the population there, the other 49.9% is older white women). One of the other passengers was a guy who was working for a truck company doing cold weather testing. When the van driver found out about that he started asking the passenger if there was anyway they could remotely get the trucks off of the Ambassador Bridge. He then started ripping into the truck protesters, ripping at least in a Minnesota way, "Ya dey are just hurtin demselves ya know..."

I found it pretty interesting considering that area is the most red part of the state and also the least vaccinated.

They are acting as a defacto union. It's the same construct whether it is formalized or not. They are shutting down commerce in order to get what they want.

In this case, they don't even have the right to shut down commerce because they aren't just walking off their job, they are blockading trade from happening all because of something Trudeau actually has no control over. That's the irony.

Supposedly leftists like Trudeau and Biden are steadfast supporters of unions. But here they are, standing in opposition to the working man, against the truckers.

What political support they have left from the working class is very likely going to take a further nosedive after this episode.
