Forcing children to wear a mask is child abuse. The Left failed children.

To me, the context of the situation is important. For instance, I would not expect or want all the kids at my child's daycare to be required to wear masks all the time, because it is a controlled environment. However, on a plane with god knows who, I would really prefer that everyone be required to mask wherever possible to limit the risk for my unvaccinated kids.

I totally get that at some point it is just not reasonable to force a really young kid to mask, like with my 2 year old daughter... there is basically no way I could get her to keep one on. My 4 year old is no problem, however. Drawing the exact line is probably a very difficult thing to do, but I think that if a kid is at all capable of wearing a mask in certain situations that may be considered higher risk like travel, then they should be required to do so.

ATW, debate aside, you have young ones, right? Does Covid exposure worry you much? I haven't travelled since the pandemic began, but may need to take a cross-country plane trip with mine later this year and am at least somewhat concerned. If you mentioned it anywhere before, sorry -- I haven't read this entire thread. Thanks.

I thought mask mandates were a means for a socialist power grab. So when these mandates and restrictions end, what purpose did they serve in increasing authorarian socialist rule?

Is this some Elders of Zion level conspiracy where the plan is to condition humans to be more accepting of mandates or something?

If your opinion was merely "their approach is incorrect and heavy handed" then we good. Because it doesn't prescribe a neferious grand conspiracy intent with thousands of elites around the globe in lockstep with some power fetish. The argument against pandemic mandates from the "libertarians" was always a argument revolving a "slippery slope" and a odd suspicion that these restrictions are meant to eventually be normalized and permanent to install some communist state.

The fact that this won't be a blob on anyone's radar in a year says that narrative is completely horse ****.

Death from Covid at the age of your young children is extremely rare, believe it or not, pneumonia can kill them more than Covid. Turn off your TV and travel away. You will live like a free person when you cancel their fake news.

 

I wish I had your confidence. I am not so worried about death but moreso the possible other consequences that could affect future quality of life. I have heard too many anecdotal stories from people of things like loss of taste, a lingering cough over a year after getting it, etc. I dunno, maybe you're right, but I have heard enough things like that to make me feel that this is something I really don't want to f*ck with if possible, so I appreciate the mask mandate honestly.

Also, I'm not concerned so much for me and the wife as we are both fully vaccinated with boosters, but for the kids. I would feel a lot better about travel if they had the shot. It seems that Omicron affects kids moreso than Delta due to its prevalence in the lungs.

Yes these Democratic politicians wanted people to wear masks forever because that's how you control people. Then when they start lifting mask mandates because new infection numbers are plummeting it's becoming very clear that vaccination and symptomatic prior infection are conferring enough immunity to prevent severe disease it's suddenly a Libertarian Power revolution..

 

I'm curious how wearing mask is some sort of big government control power play?
Taiwan has become less authoritarian since mask wearing became more widespread following SARS..
