I don’t necessarily agree that stone deserves more time but I also don’t think a more competent replacement would want to come work under Tilman.
As much as I like Sengun I'd project him as a starting center in the NBA. He hit on the pick because they gave up little to get that...JC is also a nice player, they it on the pick because again it was a late pick and they, I feel, at least got a player that can be a starter in the NBA... But that's not really saying anything. So far they have missed on Green but whatever, everyone knew Green/Mobley/Cade were going top 3, we'll see what Green turns out to be... Hopefully, 3 years from now these will all look like excellent picks but it's hard to ignore that Stone thought both Oladipo and Theis were long term players and trades them months later. Months later. That's not a good look no matter how you slice it.
Sorry but I refuse to believe this. There are a ton of teams that would be better with Gordon and a ton of teams that would be better with Wood, the only question is the asking price. Don't put them in the same bucket as Wall, they're definitely not negative assets. The only explanation here is that Stone's asking price was too high, but you can't tell me they don't have value.
i think the question falls to fertitta. He didn’t want to pay Morey. Does he want to pay for a top tier GM? We got problems al the way to the top. Lest we forget, he pushed Morey on the CP/Westbrook trade that send us down this pit. It’s no sure thing that fertitta/stone are any better than McNair/caserio/Easter bunny
Between the Oladipo/Lavert trade, picking Green over Mobley, and now completely failing this trade deadline, Stone is not looking great.
I watched a few Gaia videos to gain the knowledge of how to transcend to a god, so I could make Stone trade EG for a FRP. Suprised it didn't work. Sorry guys.
I watched so many movies and listened to so many albums simultaneously. I feel like today wasn't all a waste.
Morey left because he saw the writing on the wall and was forced to trade for WB in a bad deal and forced to hire Silas over gundy. Tilman is a cancer.
My guess is that this (2022) is the last draft he gets if things do not improve. Green, Sengun, Nix and Christopher will have had a second season.
Rockets had 4 trade deadline priorities, ranked in order 1. Free Gordon for some future value [FAIL] 2. Unload Wood for some future value [FAIL] 3. Unload Wall, if you can [FAIL] (this was always going to be hard) 4. Move Theis, for whatever [ C - pure salary dump] Patrick, Raphael, is this a good report card?
What blows me away is we are literally trotting out Tate as a PF 54% of the time this season. I get we are trying different things but c'mon. We should nuke our entire staff and start over.
You do realize that every GM screws up draft picks. Carol Dawson did, Daryl Morey did. Maybe Stone do mess up the 2nd pick. We don’t know yet after 2/3 of one season. Jalen has shown spurts of being really good. Just like Kobe, Giannis, Harden, KD, and countless others did their rookie seasons. All the fore-mentioned sucked their rookie seasons and they were all older and more physically mature. Patience my friend. Jaygup and Sengun were good picks. We don’t know yet on Green and Garuba.
This is a dumb take by stone take the late frp and hope to package them together for either a higher pick or something later down the line.
