At least when Morey got the freeze it was because he had a history of putting together pretty good deals and then had the luck of the Harden trade. I don't know what is giving Stone this level of irrational confidence other than his absolute heist of signing Daniel Theis to that ridiculous contract.
That trade fell apart because our GM didn't want to let go of Roderick Rhodes, a player who didn't make it past his first contract in the NBA. That one steal on Jordan in a game that was a blowout (and not in the Rockets favor) plus that pass he made in the All-Star Rookie game (off the backboard to a big - can't remember who) kept us from getting someone who would have been a huge upgrade where we needed it badly. I think that's a valuable reminder not to overvalue "potential" players when it's possible to get actual productive players in return.
I don't know about insonsequential, maybe from an organizational standpoint in the long run but not as a fan. I really enjoyed seeing PJ win a ring in Milwaukee and I'd be very happy to see Gordon moved to a contender this season, I like the guy. He doesn't have a lot of time left. Secondly I'd like to see way more Josh Christopher and maybe even Daishen Nix, it makes the games more fun to watch. I'll be upset if Gordon isn't moved.
Wow! There are people(NBA Insiders) saying Houston might not trade anybody today……Gordon? Wall? Wood? We need To trade with Charlotte but I want Bouknight back…..come on Stone.
1 major difference between Westbrook and Walls contracts is that player option for 2022-2023 in Walls contract. Westbrook is locked in with a mid-$40s paycheck. There’s potentially a chance Wall negotiates a 3 year deal that dramatically lowers his salary next year. If he did something like 3 years $70 million, that lowers his 2022-2023 salary to $22 million.
Ibaka trade: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...e-divincenzo-part-four-team-trade-sources-say They say it's four teams. I'll try to parse out everything I can but I think there's missing information. Edit: Serge Ibaka to Bucks Marvin Bagley to Detroit Josh Jackson/Trey Lyles to Kings multiple second rounders to someone? Semi Ojele and Rodney Hood to Clippers
If Eric was begging to be traded they will/would trade him. I'm almost certain of that. I think Eric is fine staying and fine going. He's not a malcontent. He's a consummate professional and I hope he retires a Rocket and serves pizza in this pizza desert for decades to come.
Listen to how Windhorst is using his wording...... he is stating his OPINION based on what he knows about the league and what he views as clues. On his own podcast, several days before he broke it on ESPN, he said he hadn't been told by anyone there were ongoing talks but he just knew there had to be. So Windhorst is making an educated guess. Windhorst doesn't have the same degree of sources as Woj. Woj was definitive and direct...... Does that mean that there will be no phone calls today? No, there could be but Woj is saying there hasn't been in a month alomst.
