Is what it is. Rockets were looking at moving some contracts to further set things up for the rebuild. Didn’t happen. It’s not like we still aren’t track to be a bottom 4 team.
Kelly Iko is the mouth piece for the Rockets front office..... having said that, I don't know if the Rockets ever had Iko publish the information. It was out there though.... here is one site I know that had it. "The Houston Rockets have told teams they have two different offers of a first-round pick for Eric Gordon. The issue is finding a team that won’t send back significant salary as Houston doesn’t want anything major on the books. Houston is also looking for a pick in the teens instead of a late first-rounder for Gordon. Source: Matt Moore @ Action Network"
My point was only that I don’t think the Rockets need a full scale gutting of the front office. There’s a lot of people really good at what they do there. I was just using the draft as an example. Stone was high on JC because of our scouting and data guys. I’m sure he puts time in too but scouting hundreds of players for the draft and then all the in-NBA research takes more than him. Now the issue with GM’s just having a stance that it’s not worth calling the Rockets about a trade because they think Stone can’t be worked with to get a win-win because of hard line negotiation tactics… that’s coming from the top.
