Interesting. Outside of aging, the second biggest group is <55 (1.1m). I think the extended time-off period has given a number of folks time to pursue what they really want. The sudden huge spike in the stock market also contributes to early retirements.

Ya not enough people going to jail in a country that compromises 4% of the world's population and 24% of the world's prison population. I feel like this absurd statistic is something that actual sincere libertarians would care about. You would think it would make the top of their priority list but then you realize the US doesn't actually have a sincere "libertarian" movement that is in any way meaningful. You just have a bunch of right wing fascists self-labeling themselves as libertarian.

This is one example of a laundry list of reasons why people don't take right wing rhetoric when it comes to "muh freedoms". The right wing concept of "freedom" is very insular.

libertarians routinely call for the decriminalization of drugs. That would cut the prison population right there, as suggested by McWhorter in another post that's been criticized today:

In your book, you talk about ways to make things better for black Americans. You suggest three things: End the drug war, teach reading properly, and get past the idea that everyone should go to college.

If there's no black market selling hard drugs on the street, you can't drop out of school and do that. There's no way to avoid getting some kind of legal work. And that's not always going to be fun when you're from an underserved community, because life is hard. If you've grown up somewhere where you aren't taught well, and you aren't taught how to do anything, you've got a problem. So not only do you end the drug war, because it destroys black communities by creating that black market temptation that sends people to prison and often to death, but then you also want to have something to catch those men. Those men should be caught in a system that cherishes and funds and values vocational education, with the idea being that he'll learn how to fix air conditioners and heaters and make a thoroughly middle-class living for the rest of his life.
the rest of the interview is worth reading

Which self labeled libertarian gains more traction in America?

The Ben Shapiro/Tucker Carlson self labeled libertarians or the more scholarly ones who are more in line with traditional libertarian beliefs? What sells more in this country and is more ubiquitous?

With most self labeled libertarians I've encountered, things like mass incarceration isn't on their radar until I bring it up. Trump being banned from Twitter and like 100 different talking points take precedent most of which are right wing cultural talking points.

In this country, the people who support "thin blue line" rhetoric and defend our criminal justice system routinely while using "tough on crime" rhetoric when it comes to our crime rates issue and the people who self-label themselves as "libertarian" is a near perfect circle in a venn diagram. @SuraGotMadHops is the poster child for that type of demographic.

I had a Camry pulling a move like that and cutting me off at 85-90mph. Dumbshit started fish tailing then faceplanted into the median.

I'm not sure how I didn't T-bone into the loser, but I was close enough to hear shrapnel hitting my car.

This was like 7-8 years ago on the 35E. I guess Xbox and superior handling saved my ride?

This bum jumped into the street to do a drug deal under the highway so i stopped so I wouldn't run him over like in a Road Runner / Wile E Coyote skit

then some road ragger honks at me and passes me by, clearing seeing that I'm stopping to not run over some bums

This is one of those situations where the people who laugh at that policy, I would welcome their idea for a solution to this problem.

    1. Sudden removal of these illicit drugs from their system can result in near fatal to fatal withdrawal symptoms.

    2. The current access to paraphernalia that these addicts have are probably broken, disease ridden, dirty etc.

So we can as a society just place the heavy hand of "law and order", arrest all these addicts and forceably withdraw these drugs out of their system and endure the withdrawal regardless of how dangerous it can be.

I just want to know your solution to this? Do we just arrest and forget? Strengthen funding for rehabilitation programs? What exactly do YOU want?

You can laugh at the absurdity of the entire situation or you can at least input your idea of a solution.
