I'd suggest you look at the free agent list. Portland isn't getting anyone significant. Nor is the list impressive

I've thought it for awhile, and held back in order to not upset the herd here. I think the guy knows how to be a GM, but I have no confidence in his decision making and personality. Morey would over value his hand too, but he's got an approachable personality and I just don't think he's a GM where other GM's will just not want to get on the phone with the guy because of his personality. You cannot discount how important it is for GM's to be likable to their peers. The guy comes off as someone who always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.

It's trendy to hate on Wood and honestly it's embarrassing how much the fans attack him. Everyone wants the Rockets to get a top pick. He's just doing his best to make sure it happens. He needs to have his role changed but that should come from coaching. The Rockets harp on culture, you shouldn't be giving the culture keys to a chucker.

The team hasn't seemed to do a good job in establishing roles for anyone. Hell look at Wall. They couldn't carve out a role for him. Look at Sengun, it looks 50 games to get him starting and they gave Theis 20 incompetent games next to Wood. This staff seems to be a bit discombobulated.

Wood has tunnel vision but I PROMISE once he is gone, the fanbase will find another dud to whine about. I would guess it will be the most overrated player on the team and that's Tate. He has as much tunnel vision but doesn't have the skills to match, he just puts in more effort.

I think if Stone sits on EG till the draft it’s not the end of the world but hugely disappointing and you have to wonder about his deal making skills given the huge disappointment of last year’s deadline.

It’s shocking considering how helpful EG would be to almost any contending team…including a Lakers team desperate to contend this year. I just don’t understand how u waste a rare healthy year of Eric Gordon; come away with nothing as a rebuilding team.

    Don't get greedy please.

Need to prioritize the draft pick and just get what you can for Gordon and/or Wood.

Stone deserves criticism if we don’t move at least one of Gordon/Wood. Inexcusable.

Especially after leaking we have multiple FRPs on the table for Gordon. Same s*** as last year’s deadline.

Idk why it’s so shocking lol. Of course EG would be good on the Lakers but there’s been nothing indicating that they want to give up on the little draft capital they have over the next 6 years.

There is no all star free agent this offseason unless Harden or Beal are actually FA, which I doubt ends up being the case. Gary Trent is so good, trading with Masai will never work out. Dude has been ripping off opposing teams since he got all of the Knicks for Melo when they could have just waited.

I totally agree it's a coaching issue as much as it says anything about Wood. I mean how many times have we seen Wood pulled after he blows a play and chucks up a step back 3???... I'd say never at least that I've witnessed.

So right about roles too. Even on bad teams, you try and come up with some sort of role establishment and as far as I can see, it's just pick up ball. A very AAU style of coaching. If it came down to Wood or Silas, I certainly would say losing Silas is more important to winning, and culture for sure.

But you are right that the most important thing right now is getting a top 3 pick this year, and both Wood & Silas are doing their part there. What is conflicting somewhat with that though is the importance of Green, Sengun, and JC to play for a coach, and system that helps them get to that next level. I'm legit concerned about the poor habits they could form starting their careers off in this environment. How would they react if we all the sudden in two seasons hired a stickler like Thibs??

    Portland's FA list
    1. Harden

If they don’t get him. They look for trades.

This better be cap. Couldn’t trade him last year because they played him until he actually got hurt.

I honestly think Silas allowing these guys to do whatever the **** they want will help in the long term. He's letting them fail. He knows how to draw up plays and is a brilliant mind. I don't love how the team looks but I do think Silas will end up being an above average coach in the end. JBB looked A LOT worse here with A LOT more talent and he looked worse in Memphis too and now he's the leader for COY. Silas is learning on the job and honestly I expect him to trust his players a lot more to grasp his system next year. My biggest issue is his lineups. Having Tate with Wood and Sengun literally ruins spacing and defeats the purpose of the double big. Three rookies are getting heavy rotational minutes. If John Wall were this would probably look a lot more organized even though he's a ball hog too.
