Portland is a poverty franchise. Almost nothing to show for McCollum, Nance, Covington and Powell. Seriously cannot believe how bad this interim GM is. I'd rather hold onto Gordon than trade him for a SRP. Without a doubt. Suns, Lakers and Memphis still has the kind of assets to get Gordon. Philadelphia too but I think they are preoccupied.
I think we are going to see another instance where Stone overplays his hand out of cockiness, and we lose out on a valuable asset to add. The Jazz only choose this option if they think Stone is being absolutely unreasonable about EG who is the better player that could help them more. If Stone wasn't icing teams out by icing out the market with heavy asking prices, the Jazz don't make this move today, and play it out over the next 24 hours.
Nah. You sit Gordon for the rest of the year if the offers aren't there. Wood wants to be here and the Rockets should wait until after the lottery to trade him. KPJ/Green/Jabari Smith/Wood/Sengun is a very good starting 5. KPJ / Green/ Wood/Holmgren/Sengun is intriguing KPJ/Green/Paolo/Wood/Sengun probably wouldn't work. If the Rockets land the first pick, he's still a great fit. The Rockets want to compete for the play-in next year. They probably won't, but that first option gives them a chance at it. The Rockets have to be competitive starting in the 2023/24 season as that is when the picks start to convey to OKC. So how do you get competitive? A combination of internal growth and FA signings. How do you get FA to sign? Appear to be competent. Next year is the season to appear competent so FA want to come in 2023 summer. I believe this team with the addition of Jabari Smith and a year of growth can be a 9-12 seed vs a bottom dweller. That should be enough to attract FA when the Rockets have max room when Wood, Gordon and Wall would all be off the books even with 0 moves.
We all know Wood wants to be here because he can stuff his stats here, and get unlimited touches. That doesn't mean he's good for the team to grow our much more important young players.
are you really surprised. The organization is led by dumb ownership The standards these days are just flat out low. Nobody should be expecting much
i would have expected a little more return on Powell, CJ and Cov, but what Portland is doing is exactly the right direction. They needed to blow things up and remake the roster for another 2-yr title run stretch around Dame. It’s that or a full rebuild and Dame is committed to Portland. So they added more draft picks and prospects, and freed a sh#t ton of cap space. They are building around Anfernee Simons, Nurc and Dame. They will add an all star free agent in the offseason and they have the assets to make a trade for another weapon. They could be back in contention next year if they make the right moves. It’s not a clown show. and considering the former GM traded Trent Jr for Powell, I think this interim GM is really doing the dirty work and clean up the mess.
