If what I'm seeing is accurate, America has averaged more than 2,500 daily COVID deaths over the past week. That doesn't sound like 'over' to me.

    That man and his messages...

Deaths lag at least a couple of weeks behind cases. Cases have been steadily decreasing, so deaths should start showing a similar decrease.

I don't get it. I mean, I guess it's over in that the SARS-CoV2 virus is no longer a novel coronavirus given that most of the entire human population has had some exposure to it now, with a huge number infected by one variant or another over the last two years.

But we're going to be living with variants for a very long time, probably every winter. Hopefully it can exit the news cycle; there's just not much left that we can do about it, unless they develop a good yearly update that works better than flu vaccines do.

The Biden regime is re-jiggering the numbers on that now. Really. They are.

    Depends on one’s perspective.

For 2500 Americans, it is decidedly over.

There was never very much we could practically do about it, aside from help the most vulnerable to protect themselves and to encourage everyone who is unhealthy and obese to take this as a wakeup call and do what they can to stop living like that - the latter which never happened, as far as I can recall seeing.

This whole matter has been spectacularly mishandled since the very beginning. The reputations of the scientific and medical health leaders - the so-called "experts" - have been effectively destroyed in the minds of independently thinking people as a result of their conduct over the last two years with regards to this virus. It has all been a model of how not to do it - if the goal was to effectively help navigate our society through this in the most constructive, sustainable way possible.

But of course this was all largely driven not by science, but by politics. The media and the government have put on a naked propaganda campaign around this over the last two years that is unsurpassed in the history of the human race. This campaign has been insidious, hugely divisive, socially devastating, even deadly and in fact just straight-up evil.

Make no mistake about it, the Democrats are not stopping this of their own free will - because they want to. They are stopping it because the people are turning on them and they are getting ready to get their heads handed to them in November if they do not make some sort of spectacular reversal right now. Being the unprincipled people that they are, all this talk about "science" is just a political toy for them. They are truly unbelievable.

Pretty much come March we should all move on and be back to operating as if it's December 2019.

If you're in an at-risk population, wash your hands, avoid crowds, and do whatever else you need to feel safe.

It’s over: We lost. There will be more variants. Omicron hit almost everyone it could. A lot of unvaccinated people died who did not need to. A lot more vaccinated people survived and had considerably better courses than the unvaccinated. Some people took anti-parasitic medicines, others anti-malarial meds. Some people drank cow urine. Some people megadosed on vitamin D, others zinc and vitamin C.
But in the end, it was the miracle mRNA vaccines that saved over a million US lives. You either get your first exposure from the virus or a vaccine, it’s your choice. I chose the vaccine.

It depends how you look at it. If your perspective on this virus is political in nature, in support of the Democrat left-globalist agenda that was clearly associated with this, then it does appear that this campaign failed to achieve its objectives. Which is pretty clearly a good thing.

However, from a humanitarian, species wide perspective - we won. The numbers have been inflated quite a bit on the metrics used to measure cases, hospitalizations and deaths associated with this virus. Attempts were made to change definitions of basic terms, including what a "vaccine" is. All to scare, manipulate and control people. But it actually appears that the damage here was not nearly as bad as the so-called "experts" had anticipated, or that some of them had actually hoped for. The human immunity system proved to be far more effective and resilient than was expected. We lost some people, and that is sad. But the cold hard truth is that all of us are going to die, some of us from this virus, and everyone else, from something else.

We like to think of ourselves as apex predators. But, are we really? What about these sorts of microbial life forms that periodically rise up and cull the human herd in some noteworthy fashion? These are our gravest existential threats here on earth, aside from perhaps each other.

Here we had two of the world's most powerful governments working to cause these pathogens to become even more deadly, including funding and organizing research in the development in these sorts of deadly pathogens, which serve no purpose other than to kill people. What kind of psychopath does someone have to be to be involved in orchestrating something like that? Whatever kind it is, we have such people representing our government, on television, currently. Also, our government worked with China in a way that enabled all of this to happen. It is a very serious matter and one that sounds very much like "crimes against humanity" level stuff. Someone needs to investigate that and bring the people involved to account.

A lot of fat folks still at risk along with the boomers.

It's never really over. Just another new normal like trigger happy losers blasting children at schools every other month.

Yeah that entire vaccine thing was a total waste of time and money. Too bad all that effort has been wasted on that

Those inoculations are not actually "vaccines". They are therapeutic treatments. Which is one of the reasons that you have to get them reapplied so frequently.

Ok, so I guess the therapeutic treatments have been an incredible waste of time, energy and money - is that better?

No, the mRNA vaccines are unequivocally vaccines. They illicit an immune response resulting in a decrease in infectivity and severity of SARS-CoV-2. The mRNA breaks down after a few days and all that remains is our innate immune system to recognize and eradicate SARS-CoV-2 virus. Is it the same method of antigen presentation as for MMR, polio, or hepatitis b? No. But it’s still an antigen presentation mimicking an infection producing tons of spike protein. If it didn’t work, then no immune response would be elicited. But for anyone who has had it, they know dose 2 and for some the booster is a kick in the pants symptoms wise.
