I'd be stunned if we got a lotto pick out of the Nets this year. But honestly, I never thought for a second coming into the year(barring catastrophic injuries) that we could get a pick in the late teens and that's a definite possibility at this point. I'd be fine with that. A really good player can be had in that range(Sengun and Christopher for example).
Yes but Kyrie doesn't play much, and even when he did play with Harden they still lost a bunch of games because Harden seems to be fed up with the situation all together and stopped trying. Durant is their only saving grace, and with Nash playing him a billion minutes, he's just a ticking time bomb at this point.
It's really going to depend on how good of shape Ben Simmons is in and also dependent on Kyrie being able to play more games. That's going to be quite a load for Durant to carry otherwise. I know Simmons can still score, but that team is pretty anemic in regards to shooters, so teams will just pack the paint and double Durant. Crossing my fingers the NY vaccine mandates are not lifted. @tinman @Os Trigonum
Will Morey finally close? If he doesn’t get Harden this deadline after all this smoke, that will be pathetic. smoke so thick I’ve been coughing for days
Hoping for no deal, but it looks like it's going down. James and KD are in the process of falling off a cliff.
Harden, Embiid, Harris, and Maxey is a damn good top 4 Morey will need to add shooters oft-injured KD, QAnon Kyrie, and Ben “my mental health” Simmons…interesting cast of characters right there
Yeah, it'll definitely hurt our picks moving forward, I prefer the scenario where Harden walks for nothing in the off-season.
Again...this isn't correct. Nets are trying to compete and recoup assets. We are not trying to compete and trying to add additional assets. Simmons would be wasted here. In Brooklyn with other stars, he makes sense.
How? We don’t have a KD and Kyrie to compensate for Simmons’ flaws. We are not trying to contend. We suck and our competing for lottery balls. The Nets situation and ours is not comparable.
He is talking about the initial trade. I always thought the Nets trade was too risky because the Rockets got 0 guaranteed blue chip assets. There has never been another trade like it. New Orleans got the picks + Ball + Ingram OKC got the picks + SGA The Rockets got fleeced regardless because the Nets didn't have the blue chip prospect and Tilman was praying he didn't have to send Harden to Philly. It could end up being a great trade but it wasn't a great trade at the time. Harden wasn't washed KG and Paul Pierce. He was an MVP candidate when he was traded. Now Philly is going to get Harden for cheaper while sticking it to Tilman for refusing to deal and making the Nets a more competitive team. This stinks.
You're not wrong. I still think it was a calculated gamble that made more sense than any other option. Harden being out in less than 2 years was not in anybody's range of outcomes. You can thank the Westbrook trade for putting the Rockets in a position of desperation to recoup future assets. Worst trade in NBA history.
It's a really extreme way of looking at things. Kyrie doesn't matter tbh, if he plays it's a bonus. Durant alone takes any team to the playoffs, same with Harden. They are all-time level floor raisers and iso players, exactly what you need for the playoffs. They're both likely to take the rest of the season and the playoffs very seriously and be in better shape than they were in the first half. There's a chance it falls apart and there's a chance they win it all, but the most likely scenario is it goes better after the All Star break. I could be wrong of course.
Without a doubt the worst trade in history was the Westbrook trade. I knew that the second it happened. Also, Tilman's fault. The Harden trade wasn't really THAT bad it was just all risk and as of now was a fleecing. Stone may not be here if/when the narrative shifts. Rockets need to land Chet or Jabari this season and the team will be on the right track and it won't matter. IF the Rockets land out of the top 3, it's going to get ugly.
