Watching how we play the last few games - anyone question the value EG was brining to this team?

 

When a player agrees to a buy out, they and the team are mutually agreeing to amend the contract. I dont think the portion the player gives up counts against the cap. I dont see how it would make sense to hit the cap for the original agreement if both parties are consensually changing the agreement.

Found several examples via googling where the math seems like the portion the player gave up does not count against the team’s cap, but didnt find anything that stated that definitively. If anyone knows or has a link, thanks for the knowledge.

 

It doesn't matter because John Wall has already made it clear he's not giving up a single dollar.

The only possible advantage I can see to cutting Wall is that you can use his roster spot to add a G Leaguer or free agent. So unless there is somebody out there that you REALLY love and believe in, it probably makes more sense to hold onto Wall in the chance that he can be used to net anything in trade.

 

I believe this is correct because (as you say) it is a mutual agreement to modify the contract

 

Worth noting there is a difference between buying out someone and waiving them.

And, as you point out, if Mr Wall doesn't give up a dollar, not much to be gained...

Would send him, EGo, Tate, Bouknight (or Garuba) + Bucks FRP + 2 swaps to Sixers for Simmons.

If this is true, then no way NBA allows Morey to trade for Harden.

I'd absolutely love to get Kai Jones. I really liked him pre-draft.

Would not love to get Simmons tho but i won't argue about it.

 

Rockets needed a PG tonight.

Their best SG, Scoot, can pass the rock too.

AND NEED MORE LENGTH & DEFENSE.

 

I don't disagree. Simmons would be by far our best player, no question.

I still don't think he's the right player for the Rockets right now.

 

We need more height on this team. Tate and Nwaba is not working. Honestly, I think we need to trade Wood.The tanking is working for this team and we need to get either Pablo, Chet or Jabari for our Power Forward position….hopefully Chet. Trade for a Center who has length and size……Mo Bamba? I must say Porter has mature as a player(shooting)but not as a person(tantrum toward the refs). I like Porter, Green, Christopher and Garrison at guards but we need to get bigger on our Front Court. We need a rim protector and a rim runner, I like Sengun, next year d
