Feel bad for McCown to get passed over because of this bullshit, but he'd be set up for failure regardless with this FO and Ownership.
No sht. It's gonna happen. What easterbunny want he's gonna get. He wanted caserio and now he wants McCown
U feel sorry for an unqualified white coach to b passed up bc a qualified black coach valid complaint about the hiring process u deem is bullsht?
Cal shot McCown down. He didn’t get his way. I don’t think McCown will ever be the coach of the Texans. Why? He is toxic to the fanbase and is attached to Easterbunny.
He didn’t get his way completely this round but no reason to think he’ll give up. Think there is a good chance McCown ends up on Lovie’s staff which will be an absolute toxic situation.
Im not sure what to say to that. Good for Wade I guess? The man has been in the league a long time and has impressively managed to coach multiple “worst OL ever” contenders.
So... after taking some time to reflect and digest. If the choice truly was McCown vs. Smith, it's reasonable to think we dodged a bullet. However, someone has to explain to me how we ended up in this situation after we spent the last 16 months looking for a head coach. It's the equivalent of spending an entire day at the grocery store and winding up at the register with a dog turd and a can of beans. First of all, where did you even FIND a dog turd, and yeah, at least you picked the beans... but really? That's all you have to show for your efforts? Beans!? We've been eating nothing BUT beans for the last year! It's easy to hate on McCown because of the Easterby stink all over him, but a QB as well versed and traveled as him might just end up being a brilliant offensive mind. However, it's ridiculous to not hire him as a QB coach, OC, or analyst first and skip him straight to the top of the org chart. The fact that was even on the table makes this franchise manage to somehow look even more hopeless. This feels like a repeat of last year, only this time with a little more window dressing and pretense included. Lovie feels like a rent-to-own scenario. Something that gives us the plausible illusion of competing and the possibility for a long-term solution, but may just be dumpstered at any moment should it become convenient. I'm really way more excited to see what Pep Hamilton and a slew of new talent and coaches can do on offense. Lovie's defenses are consistent if not boring. The Texans' fate will ultimately be decided by Pep and Mills and that is what will be fun to watch.
So there is no way that the Texans will be actually good at football. Accordingly, I am rooting for next level chaos, which can only happen if they add McClown to the coaching staff. Or better yet, how about adding him as the team chaplain, only to have reports of him on the field doing coaching. Like a mini Easterby. I’m being serious. The stupidity of this organization is truly elite level, and I’m actually very excited to see how low this can go. I don’t think we have found bottom yet. We must hire McCown to the staff. (My end game/bad game of thrones level ending is that in three years, JJ Watt retires and is named head coach of the Texans. What could be more perfect. He is famous. He is beloved. He is ruggedly handsome. He is a milk drinking white dude who excudes character. He is missing the religious evangelical angle, so that might not work. But holy crap that would be fun).
It's what happens when you have three people who are seemingly not on the same page at all running the search. But mainly because we have a child owner who doesn't know what the f*ck he is doing.
Quick summary of Ian Rappaport this morning: - this was not a job that was turned down or that they had trouble finding people interested. This was not Jacksonville. Gannon and Flores both wanted job, reports about turning it down or mandates we’re not true. - in terms of process, was never convinced MCown was front runner. Heard it from other other media members only could never get a source in the building to say that. - thinks caserio didn’t love and of the candidates out there and came to like Louie during the process. - thinks McCowb might be in staff but worries about perception of coach in waiting whether true or not - Gannon was just too young. Will have a shot. He was super impressive but teams felt he needed more time. - Flores wasn’t hired because Texans were concerned about how he worked with management in Miami. They may end up looking stupid, but Texans believe they are building a high end collaborative organization and didn’t think Flores could fit in
