Joe Rogan and the Weird New Definition of 'Right-Winger'

    https://reason.com/2022/02/08/joe-rogan-and-the-weird-new-definition-of-right-winger/

    excerpt:

The whole thing makes no sense—except as an exercise in labeling anyone out of step with progressive orthodoxy in any way at all as a right-winger. That's the thing all of the centrist or left-leaning folks that Sheffield labels as right-wing have in common: a quibble with some aspect of mainstream Democratic or progressive politics. In many cases, these quibbles are related to free speech, which much of the mainstream modern left has been turning against.

Typical right wing not taking responsibility for their actions. The right wing decided that following medical guidelines and science in regard to Covid19 regulations, and vaccinations was a political issue. In this case some on the left are agreeing and attaching a label based on what the right has decided, and for some reason it bothers those on the right.

Liz Cheney, Adam Kinsinger, and those of their conservative ilk (such as a former Dem-turned Republican, Ronald Reagan, are right-wingers

Who has called Rogan a right-winger?

    Can you give any examples?

Rogan is libertarian-ish who wants to avoid taxes and say whatever he wants.

    I don't think he's a right winger though.

Yeah he's not a right winger.... but neither was Trump really until he ran and had to say a couple things here and there that he ended up contradicting with his actions a second later.

But... as a media figure does Rogan pander to the right on some topics when he has the right guest on or there is a topic out there that'll get him clicks???... sure, but so does Bill Maher.... because THE CENTRAL ISSUE RIGHT NOW is right wingers right now are the driving force in politically charged media ratings because of their stupid culture war issues driven by FoxNews, and the other propaganda outlets. People like Bill Maher know that the right are fired up and media hungry while the left is mostly tuned into Yellowstone, Book of Boba Fett, and the Woj bombs.

I don't think Joe Rogan is conservative at all though. Do I think he could run and win as a Republican for president in 2024 though??... yes absolutely. Because "The Right" right now doesn't really believe in any fundamental principles other than destroying liberal democracy. If they think Rogan is the best tool they have to destroy the other side, they'll hoot and holler for Rogan all day every day.

Good for us though based on Rogan's solid apologies, I don't think he wants to even float that idea of marrying the right like Trump did, and I think he just wants to go back to having a podcast where he can say whatever the hell he wants that'll get a ton of downloads. I don't think he wants to watch what he says because he wants everyone to listen to his show. He knows what the right wants to hear, and he'll say it... but he also doesn't want to be Ben F-ing Shapiro or Donald Trump either.
