Sorry to say this to my most special Player:- OLAJUWON , waste of his time coaching SENGUN. Sengun does not have the fundamentals of the game, It might tame another two years before he can contribute as an NBA player.Y
From a non-Rockets BBS, there was a thread on who has the best footwork in the history of the NBA? Air Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Luka Doncic, Tim Duncan? a majority picked Hakeem and 1 guy said Sengun.
I am confident Sengun can develop a post game like Scola had. Add his passing to that and it's a great combo. He's got a lot to work on offense and defense wise, but he's got a great skill set to start with for a 19 year old.
he only lacks playing time... imho learning new skills in practice sticks the best when you apply them in game setting..otherwise you lose them and your learning is decelerated i wished they send him to g league to play some real basketball games... its absurd he didnt even play one full game he was here...its not good for basketball player not to play... for writer not to write, singer not to sing etc...
Game time helps for sure but Sengun gets enough - it's not like he doesn't know what he needs to work on and practice.
lol at 10 minutes being enough...perhaps for some players but lebron wouldnt be lebron playing 10 minutes a night... I dont think you can even learn to drive bicycle properly doing it 10 minutes a day let alone play basketball games at highest level... yes you can but you gonna be very shakey driving on that ****.... he didnt play one full game brah...imho its not very smart and is discouraging..if we are warriors or contenders i would get it but its a tanking year and to do him like that? not many players would do well playing 10 minutes a game lebron steph harden (not to mention paul george westbrook kemba walker and that kind of players) often struggle and can cant find the rhythm even when they play 40 minutes game.. let alone 10 minutes a night cade cunningham often struggles even he plays 40 minutes a night sometimes..imagine him in 2 x 5 minutes spurts... NO RHYTHM imagine jalen green playing 2 x 5 minutes a night? bwhahahahahahah i think sengun does, but not sure if coaching stuff knows it...imho they are spreading him thin with all kind of bs instead to focus on his bread and butter...they forced him into 3pt shooting and hes not that kind of player... now he cant even do 1 thing he knew how to do well when he arrived here
Possibly my opinion is just too strong about Sengun Especially when I see Olajuwon is now coaching him. I was impressed by the very short clip which brings hope into my heart! Y
He’s got to get rid of the ball and make quicker decisions. once he gets the rock turn face up move or spin or post immediately. He’s overthinking and trying to do too much right now. Dribbling in the paint with 3 defenders waiting for you isn’t the best idea either. Hopefully Dream can take him to another level.
“He was legend on that topic,” Sengun said of Olajuwon’s genius in the low post. “He was unstoppable because he can shoot, and he was driving, and he has spin moves. That’s why he was unstoppable. “I also believe that I will be unstoppable if I start to play like him, start to shoot like him, if I can play on the inside and outside.” Sengun said some of his own spin moves in subsequent games, though part of his repertoire from his MVP season in the Turkish League, were inspired by his session with Olajuwon. Sengun, however, uses those moves to get a defender off-balance. Olajuwon was a brilliant counterpuncher, having an answer for every defensive effort to take something away. “He taught me the post-up moves, and he taught me the spin moves,” Sengun said. “I use spin moves a lot in the game, but he told me how I can improve it, how I can do it better. “He told me I need to keep working on it and improve it. I started to work on the moves that he showed me in the practice. I’m trying those moves in the practice and also in the game. When I receive the ball, I am keeping all that he told me in that practice. I’m thinking about those moves in the game, in those positions.” […] Olajuwon will always prefer the parts of the game they have in common. His sessions with Sengun will have feet in the lane, not beyond the 3-point line. Olajuwon is not, however, the only one offering pointers. Sengun visited with Rockets scout and former center Chuck Hayes on Monday, discussing defense, a topic Olajuwon has not yet covered with Sengun. “They were showing me some videos in the beginning of the season about him,” Sengun said of Hayes. “I know him. He is so strong, and maybe I need help in the defense with him. Today I asked one question about how to play against stronger guys. I know that he knows.”
sengun stop with the shooting crap....you aint it... be yourself brah... yanis cant shoot and he was the best player in NBA for the last few years....
I didn't know Hayes was a Rockets scout. Good thing Sengun is seeking advice from him on defense. Footwork, leverage, positioning, and slapping the ball out of a big guy's hands. Chuckwagon's defensive IQ is through the roof.
Shortly after, Silas walks in the room after finding out The Great Olajuwon has been teaching Sengun things and says
I feel like he's a little frustrated and maybe is having to cancel numerous reads because he knows our players are not thinking and moving on his level... Like, he's waiting to see if someone else is going to figure out the possibilities too (?) lol. Of course, I'm smitten with young Sengod, so take anything I say with a grain of salt, if you're not already...
