Or it is possible both Flores and Gannon rejected the staff decisions the Texans wanted and turned down the job. We don't know...

Not @cmoak1982 . He thinks he just has a nice tan and may be part of that mystery bi-racial percentage in the NFL that doesn't consider themselves black.:D:oops::rolleyes:

Texans: Hey Lovie, you want the job?

    Lovie: yes

    Texans: you’re hired. Congratulations.

This could have been done 6 weeks ago.

He is still a joke as a HC …. He is a Bears cast off…. But whatever… It’s a very Texans like hire… I lived through his entire tenure in Chicago and know what’s coming. The local media won’t like him by week 3.

Lol...so Lovie is going to be another transitional coach basically, instead of firing him after one season, they'll fire him after two. Hopefully, they still won't be drafting top 5 by then...but probably a safe bet that they will be.

But hey, if the players like him, whatever. I've become apathetic with Houston sports you know? There is a benefit when your team is irrelevant that you don't even have to be angry at anything they do. You just laugh at them, shake your head, and move on.

Cal McNair needs to sell the team. Crazy how Bob McNair / Rick Smiths era looked like a model franchise compared to what we have now.

The Texans will make the Lions incompetence look similar while also being more embarrassing

    ..... Anything I'm saying wrong?

I had my reasons, and I have my reasons for saying what I'm saying. I've explained them thoroughly.

McCown was a moonshot. He represented this franchise taking a huge risk. Either he worked or he didn't, but he had a chance to be a long term solution, or he had a chance to maybe make people realize the whole franchise needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

I realize Caserio is an a rough spot here, but it's one that he put himself in. Especially when you consider the candidates interviewed the last two years, and that probably only 60% of them weren't even interviewed by other teams, and neither of the two that we hired were. Dude is a genius!

Hell, I bet the majority of the people here would have rather Pep Hamilton had been promoted to head coach. He's much younger and his work with Herbert and Mills should be enough for a resume. Says a lot when your can't even get the internal promotion correct... meaning he's hiring based off perception, not on who he wants, and Pep would be the better perceived candidate.

Clearly Caserio is either in over his head and is not the genius many think (reminds me of the BOB situation, actually), or he's being overruled on every hiring decision he's supposed to be making. Pick your poison!

There is no one that would think McDaniel is part black if he didn’t tell you. He has literally no black features.
He’s not even more tan than a lot of fully white people.

Is Baker a bridge coach? No, so kind of defeats what you are trying to say.

Lovie is also very outspoken about his religion. The players on defense will defend Smith and fight for him. Offensively he is a disaster and doesn’t really want any risks taken. At his peak he rode his defense. Not a good or inspiring hire.

And I told you looking at percentages in the NFL based on some study is not the way to judge the percentage of “black” players in the NFL. Just because some puts “bi-racial” on a form doesn’t mean they don’t consider themselves black. My children put bi-racial ( daughter is “whiter” than you…assured), but she considers herself black.

Most of this board wanted Pep as OC. That is what they will get. Lovie’s issues on offense is the same as most coaches…not having a QB. He will have a young QB that has shown potential with the guy who will be OC.

Texans always doing these sham ass interview processes.

front office probably had to pivot from hiring McCown to Louvie cause of the Flores lawsuit.

whelp the end game is McCown, just a matter of time.

I think the job would have been awarded to Brian Flores had he not gone bonkers and sued the league.

Lovie Smith got fired in Tampa because the Bucs were scared his DC Morris would Take a job somewhere else that season if they didn’t make him the head coach.

Not going to go back and forth with you again.
You’re using your evidence (anecdotal) as fact.
If they considered themselves black, they had the option to identify as black.
That’s why the multi race demographic can’t be certain on what they are.

That's the Texans in a nutshell - punt and hope for the best down the line. In meantime battle red and any other gimmick to get past today

I honestly believe that no reputable coach or candidate wants the job. In part, due to the limitations most likely put on the staff. You can give me the 1 of 32 blah blah blah answers but this front office would be an absolute nightmare to work with.

I could be wrong but don’t feel like Caserio and Easter bunny are on the same page. I also don’t think that one of those two will make it through the entirety of their contracts.

I think the disfunction is even worse than what we are all seeing, and that’s obviously pretty bad.
