Lovie is not going to be a 1 year hire. Josh McCown may not be on the staff at all because of the HUGE backlash he is getting for being considered for the HC. McCown may have pulled his name from consideration.
I think it's more likely that the Texans removed McCown from consideration because of the scrutiny they'd face. I think the Texans would be kind of mad at him if they fired Culley to hire McCown and he turned them down. If McCown turned down the job, I don't think you get the statement from a source below.

The idea that someone who’s highest level of coaching prior was HS would somehow turn down an NFL head coaching position is beyond stupid. That’s the pinnacle of football coaching and last I checked there are only 32 of em. Nevermind the salary. This is simply another predictably reactive move by a predictably reactive and archaic franchise. Love to see it.
