even if Sengun is tired, let him condition himself with game minutes.. it's so weird to not play him when the rockets are not good anyway.
You're completely right about that...also it's so obvious that the offense is just better when he's in the game, and defensively I don't think he's any worse than Wood despite his propensity to foul. And yet it's Wood who has the keys to the offense and Al-p who's often relegated to spot touches. Hope this trade deadline isn't another boring one
thanks but how he ended up shooting 5 3s and only one 2 pointer? i saw 2 were hail marys end of shotclock type but still... silas not putting him in position to succeed its like asking of yanis to be a prolific 3 point shooter or posting up steph curry instead of letting him shine on perimeter....just some mind boggling staff
this is how franchises stay bad for decades... they keep doing dumb stuff...none of the wining things are the rockets science.... just do normal common sense stuff that produces results...
2 of those 3s were because guards passed him the ball sub 2 seconds left on the shot clock for no hope heaves. The Pels commentators were laughing their asses off at them, that we had players putting the big man in that position. EDIT: Sorry, commented before I read the rest of your post. Yeah. Silas kind of has a fetish for stranding Sengun on the perimeter for no reason whatsoever. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, just flat out bad coaching.
That's because Silas conditioned him to play these minutes. He came from Turkey. Do you have any idea how many games are played in Turkey in a season, how much smaller is Turkey compared to the US and how bad the training methodology in Turkey is? He could have died from a heart attack, if he played more.* * these are actual reasons given in this thread for his playing time!
I have seen enough...alpi should be full time PG...hes by far the most dangerous rocket at the top of the key
then they say: but we must tank because we lack talent what other choice we have? NO! rockets do have talent just too lazy developing it....they want to play loterry they made basketball, a beautiful game of skill, into a game of chance!?
It’s definitely messy still but I’m happy he’s getting some starter minutes and getting some time to improve the chemistry with KPJ and JG. It’s going to be good for his development and we just need him to put this fouling habit behind him soon, there’s only 30 or so games to go. Looks like he’s going to make their shots a lot easier, he moves the ball so well and sets great picks. Green and Tate will get the ball in motion more often. Really hope we trade Wood. If Silas is unwilling to put him in the corner more often to run a few measly plays for Sengun, then Stone should drop his price a bit on Wood and get him out of here. Get us a vet catch and shoot 3&d PF to plug in with Sengun, Tate, Green, KPJ. Want to see what these guys are capable of without Wood and Gordon’s numbers. I’m ready to see more of our rookie trio. Honestly guys these are already 3 solid pieces for the future acquired in a single summer. We’re going to have a fast rebuild and if we spend and draft better than average, I see a decade of Warriors-like contention ahead of us. Still a huge believer in Garuba btw but will not see his impact till next season probably cause of the injury.
Agree with you Mathloom. Wood is just a selfish player. Sengun fouls a lot because he tries hard on every defensive possession. Wood usually doesn't (sometimes he does, but it's on and off). And offensively, Wood is super selfish. He is not a player that will make your team a winning team. Please trade him.
Silas is a goof but last night Al-P got on and off the bench because of foul trouble mostly. That being said the main reason the guy gets in foul trouble is the perimeter guys (KPJ was bad last night) where getting burned and Sengun was having to guard two guys in the paint with a head of steam. I don’t see reason to freak about Sengun though. Some people are so dramatic here. We’ve already seen the potential with him. Like Green, the off-season is really where the growth is going to come. The rest of this season everyone is going to get PT that’ll help so I’m not worried about that part, but honestly they could shut him down tomorrow and I wouldn’t feel any different about his long term potential. CWood is a chucker though. Man that guy thinks he’s Kobe. Does such a poor job of ever creating shots for others. He’s pretty good and a big reason why we won the games we did, but he’s not good enough to build around obviously and on a young team you need guys who will make the youngsters better. Wood is a terrible fit for this team. I’ve grown to believe it’s actually more important to trade him than EG.
If we are going to talk about Sengun's foul problem, first of all, it is necessary to talk about the other non-defense players in the Rockets squad. When I look at the court, I don't see any player trying to defend except Tate and Sengun. Sengun gets fouled for trying to defend against the player walking past Wood because he is trying to defend against them all alone. It's that simple. I've always written that Christian Wood is an empty statistics machine, super egoistic and selfish and thinks he's more of a talented player than he is. His defense sucks too. He is bloody hell soft. So his presence on the court is a loss despite all his stats. It bothered me that he stayed in the team because he looks like he will get a serious contract next year. If so, the Rockets will stay as a garbage last at least 5 more years.
no player ever will work with silas because he alows players to walk over him, doesnt hold em accountable and is not dedicated to detail... if he cant teach/force/inspire/motivate wood how to set a proper screen then do we even have a coach? yet we know he suspended him for a game for some trivial stuff.... wood is talented and all that but when the entire franchise dogging it, starting from the fans who are a big no show, why blame him for not giving a **** on a tanking team?
