Really expensive promotion lol. Fired David Culley to keep 90% of the staff and promote the DC to head coach at the cost of $22 million plus the cheap contract Lovie gets haha

Keeping Pep and not letting him go is huge. Lovie is a definite upgrade over Culley …this is a win win in terms of helping Mills develop as well as continuing the defense progress …when looked at together…this absolutely makes sense

I don’t know maybe this ends up being ok but definitely seems like Caserio fumbled the ball with the process here.

They're worried more about optics in the wake of the Flores lawsuit than money...

    Clown show gonna clown show.
Bootlickers will tell you otherwise but ain’t no qualified candidate or one with options wants this **** ass job.

    Sham hire in Culley
    Lovie Smith? LOL
No God damn team is interviewing let alone hiring David Culley and Lovie Smith in 2021.
They want the best puppet available. Who will let us pick their staff & be on the headset on game days and allow Jack on the sidelines?

Go ahead bootlickers, defend it! Say it with a straight face the best, qualified candidates in back to back years were David Culley, Lovie Smith and Josh McCown!

    2021
    Lovie Smith
    Josh McCown
    Brian Flores
    Jonathan Gannon
    Joe Lombardi
    Kevin O’Connell
    Hines Ward

    2020
    David Culley
    Leslie Frazier (alleged reported runner-up)
    Eric Bieniemy
    Joe Brady
    Jim Caldwell
    Matt Eberflus
    Marvin Lewis
    Josh McCown

Why are people excited about Pep as OC? Did he do something that implies he’ll be a good OC?

Caserio is a genius. If the Texans hired Lovie Smith during a normal interview process all fans would have hated it. But act like you're going to hire an unqualified McCown after a previously unqualified coach in Culley and it doesn't seem so bad. Common sales tactic.

It’s only ok when the Astros hire black bridge coaches.

Instead of having a real coaching search, Texans planned on having a sham process to hand their friend McCown the job and when the Flores lawsuit came they had to call an audible to make Lovie the HC. There were plenty of other better-qualified candidates that they didn't even bring in for an interview.

He comes across as inept and racist in this hiring, imo. Hiring a second minority candidate as a bridge to McCown. All because he doesn't have the balls to hire McCown straight up because Cal is worried about the optics in the Flores fiasco.

This reeks of a franchise that is such a dumpster fire that nobody wanted their job. It came down to a guy suing the league vs a guy that volunteered to coach his high school son's team as an assistant.

Instead, they promoted a good man that is a middling head coach, while paying the failed wide receivers coach that they hired last year $20 some million, just to promote the rest of his staff, even though he was fired over "philosophical differences."

Yeah, Caserio doesn't seem like a genius. Jury is out on his scouting. Seems okay. But as a GM in charge of hiring, he comes across as a bumbling businessman, rivaled only by his bumbling boss.
