Honestly we are getting our hopes up too much. Going to jinx it. I actually wish @DreamShook was out here deleting some of these things.
This losing streak is already more than anyone could have realistically hoped for this season. If if they starting winning soon it should not be worse than the 22-23 pick I would think. Better than 29 or 30 haha
Morey has absolutely lost it. I think it might end up being a S&T with BKN in the off season. Simmons for Harden straight up. In which case Morey was right to wait one year. I suspect Morey has been tampering with Harden since the beginning of the Simmons-saga and is hoping to work out a S&T in off-season. To make the tampering less obvious, he's been asking around for value for Ben but hasn't been able to find the right trade.
Those draft picks are when the Nets players are old.....................very great trading to get that. Those Nets picks will probably be high as Harden, Durant and Irving will be old and well past their primes, especially in 2026 and 2027. 2027 Brooklyn will be rebuilding and we can swap with them. Brooklyn are not trading Harden. Brooklyn won't be able to attract anyone without Durant
There is no protection on the Nets pick. The protection you are seeing here is the miami swap pick that the Rockets have rights to switch with the Brooklyn pick. That switch would be top 14 protected.
... and since Brooklyn has a higher draft position at the moment, the Miami pick is moot (or if you prefer Gordan and Woods, it's mute).
Morey trying to fleece the Kings AGAIN. Stone should rob Sactown before Morey gets his hands on them.
I don't think you read what I wrote. No they will not be high picks in 26/27, that is what a lot of people do not understand. and we absolutely got destroyed in the Harden trade. Kyrie and Harden have not signed extensions. If you are willing to spend money and have zero incentive to lose, you will fill your roster with fringe all-stars that are free agents, and you will have a team that is a fringe playoff team in the East, those 26/27 picks best case will be mid first rounders, not lotto or top 10 picks. In a scenario that works, you end up with a team like the Bulls where you pay guys like Lonzo and Demar that others didnt want to pay, but are good players. You get 3-4 of those guys you have a playoff team, you may not win it all, but you make the playoffs. The ONLY teams that absolutely tank in a rebuild are ones that own their own picks and stick to a tight budget, this is not the Nets. You really think a team like BKN with an owner with deep pockets are going to just tank and give away their picks each year to save a few dollars? No, they will try to be competitive and they will fill every max slot they can. It is important to try to fill those max slots with salary, similar to what the Warriors did (KD turned to DLO turned to Wiggins), even if they are just placeholder contracts. If Kyrie and Harden sign extensions and destroy their value to the point they are not easily tradeable, and KD has severe injuries to the point he can no longer play, then the value of the picks go up, but are nowhere near that scenario yet because they have not signed. Brooklyn has a ton of flexibility.
just because u spend money, that doesn’t mean you’ll automatically be a playoff team “Historically is there an example of a team being bottom 10 without trying to be bottom 10?” yes, the Knicks
When Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey reached out to Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks on Jan. 11, they started with the usual pleasantries of basketball executives still a month away from Thursday's NBA trade deadline. Who do you like on our roster? Here's who I like on yours. Eventually, Morey spoke up on the true intention of his call. "What about James?" "James who?" Marks responded. The Nets do have two James -- Johnson and Harden. "James Harden." "No," Marks said flatly. lol, Morey’s so annoying
