I don't think it would make his case a sham if it turns out the team offering the job didn't give him the autonomy normally allotted to a head coach. If the Texans wouldn't allow him to pick his own staff and Caserio had to be an assistant coach on gameday with Easterby lurking on the sideline, I can see why Flores or any qualified coaching candidate would refuse the job. Also, there was no right time for Flores to file this lawsuit. If he would've waited until after the coaching cycle people would've just accused him of being upset at not getting hired. If he got hired and then filed the lawsuit, he'd piss off his new team's owner and half of the local fanbase. At least with him filing now, he's being open and honest with any team looking to hire him, but no team's going to hire him and he's fine with that. Also, he put pressure on the remaining teams with vacancies to ensure the hiring process was fair and inclusive.
No, but I’d want Byron Leftwich as a coach. I’d want Demeco Ryans as a coach. what a terrible example to use one of the worst human beings ever in the NFL to prove your racist ass point.
I’m starting to think Flores will be announced Monday morning. Probably letting all the noise settle first. The Texans know they can’t hire Josh McCown and if Gannon was their guy why wait this long?
Leftwich was a total failure with Arizona -- probably ruined Josh Rosen. No success without Tom Brady. Pass. Demeco Ryans sued the Texans -- do you really think they'd hire him? That's not realistic. Pick the best coach available, regardless of race. How could anyone argue that?
Didn't you just tell people who criticize the Texans to stop following them and bandwagon for whoever wins the Superbowl?
Maybe I haven’t been paying attention but I didn’t realize the guy had been in that much trouble. Following your comment I checked his Wikipedia page. Pac-Man Jones had so much talent and wasted it.
Again, I don't believe that rumor, but if a team was still willing to hire him, then it makes his claim that "he wants to coach" pretty disingenuous. He wanted to coach the Giants, and he didn't get that job. Also, there really isn't anything wrong with the Giants wanting to hire Daboll, but going forward with an interview for Flores anyway. When Mike Tomlin was hired, he wasn't being considered legitimately at all and the Steelers already had someone else in mind and Tomlin blew them away in the interview. It seems that Flores is mostly upset that he found out the direction they were leaning from Belichek, and it made him feel a certain type of way. At the end of the day he isn't owed anything, nor is anyone else that interviews. His premise that they weren't taking him serious bc of his race seems farfetched, bc realistically they weren't really taking anyone that serious outside of Daboll. They wanted him for the job and the interview was likely just a formality, but that doesn't mean they can or should just interview 1 person and go forward with it. That may not be the best hiring process, but nothing about it is really heinous. If Bill Belichek puts last names in his phone, the lawsuit doesn't even happen. The worst part of all of it was what the Dolphins clown owner tried to pull, bribing him to lose games, but I don't exactly see how that fits the narrative of lawsuit as a whole. Again, I feel for the guy. It's a shitty situation, but he definitely wouldn't be helping himself at all to be claiming unfairness in the hiring process due to racial reasons, then getting offered a job and turning it down bc it wasn't the dream job he wanted. I just spent way too much time dissecting this whole thing over a ridiculous rumor that I don't actually believe. I need to get a life.
I doubt that the text message is the only piece of evidence Flores' attorneys have to prove their case against the Giants. Also, during this process, the Giants and other teams will have to turn over sensitive confidential evidence during the investigation (e.g. emails, text messages, etc.). And this is a class action lawsuit so there may be more coaches joining. That's the whole point of the lawsuit, for these teams to be investigated so that their hiring practices come to light which will hopefully bring about change.
The Jags wanted to hire Leftwich this hiring cycle. Explain to me why Poles didn't even interview EB and maybe I can get on board with your way of thinking. When was Flores hired?
The HC choice was Poles call. A bears friend of mine told me Quin nwas going to be the hire, but Poles talked the McCaskey's/Phillips into hiring Eberflus and didn't even request an interview with EB. That should have spoken volumes, but obviously it didn't with you.
Dont take my dislike of Watson. (I do think he's a top 15 QB not a top 5 QB) because I dont think he's all that. Or the fact that he's a pervert at the very least, make you think I'm a racist. If you actually knew me and who I employee/clients I work with, you would know this is the farthest thing from the truth. I've been very blessed to have met some great people in my life, many of who are minorities.
So... no black coaches should be hired because Pacman Jones is an idiot? Congratulations... one of the most idiotic things ever written on this board.
1. He was out there preying on the internet after he knew complaints weregoing to be filed against him. Stick a couple of fingers up yourazz and think about that. It'swhy I dont care what the Texans get in a trade for him. People like this dont need to be out on the streets. Dont believe me, go read the complaints and the SI article by women who haven't even filed complaints to this day. But, hey they're all lying hoes, after all Deshaun has been baptized in the River Jordan. LMAO 2, If it's swept under the rug (Still to be determined) it will be because of nothing more or less than money. He still very well may end up in jail and probably will be suspended even if he beats the rap. 3. His behavior is what made the example. 4. You're right, I dont like people who use their positions of power and privilege to take advantage of others.
Precisely. And the converse of this rule is also true. A great example is Andy Reid. Great coach, but would you want him as a player?
A little overboard , I think he was simply saying that it would be folly to look at 70 percent players being black then equating that to what percentage black HC would or should be percentage wise based on the 70 percent
