im pretty consistent on my stance. The harden trade was garbage. We got fleeced and we wont be doing a damn thing with tilman and patrick either way I was never dumb enough to hold my breath over a couple picks from a contending team
It's more than just "a couple picks". Even if the Nets were destroying the league right now with their Big Three, the trade could still pay huge dividends in the latter half of this decade when those star players are all either gone or washed up. But now, the Rockets could see some dividends from this deal right away. We could wind up with a pick in the teens this season from Brooklyn which no one ever would've predicted before the season started. And what happens if the Nets completely implode within a year or two(or possibly sooner)?
This whole Nets situation is such fun to watch. Stone bet the house on a Nets implosion and looks like it’s going better than even he thought
Obviously we are getting some sort of "dividend". We arent going to get nothing in any trade. But is that really your ideal haul for a superstar? The odds are we get maybe one or two good picks if we are lucky No team is going to aim to be flat out bad while they dont have their own picks. The more likely scenario is the nets will overpay for mediocre players and compete for a play in spot (like they did before the big 3) while we take back middle of the pack first rounders
Tim Bontemps, Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe continue to doubt Harden even after he proved them wrong. They were completely skeptical that he could co-exist with Irving and Durant but he ended up being the Nets one stable piece last season and was a legitimate MVP candidate. People have such short-term memory. Him and Irving..no Durant, him and Durant..no Irving...Harden by himself...they kept winning and blowing out teams. I have no doubt that a healthy Harden could change up his game to successfully play with Embid. He proved people wrong who doubted he could play with CP3, Kyrie, Durant,...I think he even maximized the situation with Westbrook considering Morey shaped the entire team to suit Westbrook's playing style. Key-word is healthy though. I think that hamstring is still bothering him and he probably won't fully recover until the earliest next season. His conditioning is also probably suffering as a result. CP3 looked completely washed up after that hamstring injury which lingered the season after they took the Dubs to 7. He wouldn't even drive or shoot when Harden got doubled and turned the ball over in Westbrook style. It was a rough sight.
Why would this have anything to do with the Warriors? I doubt the trade actually happens unless the rumors about Harden being unhappy and wanting out is true. But the prospect of a major trade like this is pretty much everything I want at the trade deadline. This would be incredibly entertaining for me as I care more about great matchups/games/competition/NBA drama than who actually wins the title. Embid + Harden, Seth, Harris, Green, etc would be the 4th team in the East I'd give a good chance to win the title. KD, Simmons, Irving, Mills, Harris etc would also still be a title contending team along with the Heat and Bucks. The Eastern Conf playoffs would be amazing. As for the Rocket's picks (which I never thought would amount to much) I've no clue how this would impact it in the future. As long as KD is healthy those picks are not likely going to be lottery picks with or without Harden.
Lmao you are not a Rockets fan lmao. Spend your time here frontrunner, lmao im sure youll join when the team is good cause thats the type you are.
Lmao if he did well, there was a better chance he would dip out in FA. Dont act like you care so much about the picks(which will be garbage) we know what you and the others are here for.
