Isn't that what Biden's been doing and what he said he would do all along. Even with that the argument that he can't pick someone who is the "most qualified" doesn't hold water when the names that have been floated already show that they have high qualifications.

As even the Founders acknowledged the Constitution is vague and open to interpretation. What you consider fealty to the text of the Constitution might not what others do. The best example would be the Second Amendment.

Just to add one more thing with judgeships. Just because a President picks a judge out of whatever limited pool they have doesn't mean that judge will end up being that way. Souter was the best example who GH Bush thought would be closer to Thomas but ended up being one of the court's liberals. Roberts while he hasn't been a friend to Liberals he's also been a thorn to Conservatives on some of the biggest issues. Even Kavanaugh and Gorsuch have proven to not always side with the Conservatives.

I looked at Trump's list of potential nominees, clicked all the feminine names, and none of them were black women.

But you miss chowd's point, that "the best" candidate can as easily be disqualified by an ideological purity test as they can be by a racial background requirement.

No matter how good you are at something, there's always about a million people better than you. ;)

So you are a black woman then!

Who was that poster who claimed to be a black woman but later was found out to be a white guy when he posted a pic of himself selling some puppies?

Since he's speaking to White Guys I guess I don't qualify either under Ted Cruz's standards.

it was indeed BaylorBear (or something like that). If the picture was actually him, I actually know him in real life (worked with him many many years ago). I’m glad to say that he’s grown up a lot, is now a college professor and has changed his political views pretty drastically.

Biden should highlight republican senators like kennedy on such criticisms... for example, Judge Jackson graduated with high honors from Harvard and with honors from Harvard Law School where she was also the editor of the Harvard Law Review. She also has more years experience on the bench than trump's last few nominees.

If I was Biden, I would call out kennedy, asking if such a highly qualified candidate "knows a law book from a J. Crews catalog".

    from Wikipedia ...

John Neely Kennedy (born November 21, 1951), is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the junior United States senator from Louisiana since 2017. A Democrat turned Republican, he served as the Louisiana State Treasurer from 2000 to 2017.

Born in Centreville, Mississippi, Kennedy graduated from Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia School of Law before attending Magdalen College, Oxford. He was a member of Governor Buddy Roemer's staff before running for state attorney general in the 1991 election. In 1999, he was elected state treasurer; he was reelected to that position in 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2015. Kennedy was an unsuccessful candidate for U.S. Senate in 2004 and 2008. In 2007, he switched parties and became a Republican.

In 2016, when U.S. Senator David Vitter opted not to seek reelection, Kennedy once again ran for Senate. He finished first in the November nonpartisan blanket primary and defeated Democrat Foster Campbell 61–39% in the December runoff. He was sworn in on January 3, 2017. Kennedy was one of six Republican senators to object to the certification of Arizona's electors in the 2020 presidential election.

Kennedy is running for reelection to a second term in the 2022 election.[2]

Kennedy aint dumb. This is just a calculated PR stunt to fight off a far right primary challenger in his 2022 re-election bid.

So.. what are the comments indicative of? At the very least it seems to be sexist as I doubt he would say that if a man was going to be nominated.

It could also be a dig at black women as Michelle Obama was a well known J Crew proponent.
