First Wojbomb of the trade deadline??...... We can only hope. Trade is good for the Clippers it seems. Portland I'm interested in what their short and long term thoughts are though.
For real. Keon Johnson was their 1st rounder, but he’s been passed up in the rotation by 2nd rounder Brandon Boston Jr. Seems like they should’ve tried to get him too. Clippers get 2 starting quality players for nothing of note.
Portland is really trying to clear up capspace. Covington is an expiring but Powell's cap hit would be $15 million next season and beyond. Bledsoe's cap hit next year is only $3.9 partially guaranteed. They're shaking the cushions for that pocket change to give Dame his ridiculous extension lol
I wonder if Portland is beginning a fire sale. Seems like this move doesn't do much to inspire Lilliard to stick around.
It was obvious before but I think they're hellbent on moving McCollum. Simons is playing great of late and should be able to replace CJ in the starting lineup. Just spitballing but: CJ/Bledsoe/Nance Jr for Simmons/Harris works salary-wise. Bledsoe's salary is only $3.9 guaranteed next year, Nance comes in at an affordable $10 million and is a free agent in 2023. That effectively helps Morey/Sixers remove Harris' cap hit for the future. Of course that's if Morey wants nothing but players because Portland don't have 1st round picks to trade.
It's crazy how quickly undersized guards fall off if they lose a step. Bledsoe was an amazing 2 way guard when the pandemic started, now he's a salary dump. Really don't get this from Portland, Powell and Covington are still really good players. All they could get was a matching salary? S**ts going south there in a hurry.
They're probably looking ahead to offer Simons a contract extension and can't afford to keep all four of Lillard, CJ, Simons and Powell.
Definitely a trade for next season when they're healthy *knocks on wood, not Christian Wood* and it seems a few people are saying the same. Good stuff.
Yeah I don't know what the Blazers are doing. I don't know if they're going to do a full blow-up or if this is part of a shuffle. As for the Clippers, I did not anticipate them taking on more money. But good on them for doing it, I guess. Ballmer should adopt Tildo so we could have some money to spend.
If the Blazers are serious about this tanking thing we have a great tank commander to give them for the year in Wall. Just saying.
Blazers soon becoming bottom 5 franchise. Are they that desperate about money? Should trade Lilliard at this deadline too then to go full tank.
