This seems to be their plan so they can hire McCown and say no one else was available when they made their initial decision.
I think the Texans will hire Flores. However, Josh McCown will probably be kept to mentor Davis Mills.
What could Roger Goodell use to entice Cal to sign Flores as the next Texans head coach? Would hurt his lawsuit. Void a portion of having to pay DW4's contract? Presume that would be another lawsuit as well.
Really well said. I agree completely. I personally am pessimistic about the idea of a majority of rich, mostly white, bourgeoisie NFL owners giving 2 ***** about diversity, people of color, or otherwise. I don't think many are necessarily overtly racist, but I don't think they really understand nor care to understand the issues we are discussing. That being said, Travis Johnson told a story a few years back about talking to Janice and Cal about getting arrested when he was in high school, it was a classic profiling case, he was a teenager having a gun shoved in his face and he was terrified. He seemed to think the story moved them in a certain way, so maybe change could eventually come. It could also come over time as younger and more diverse ownership may eventually begin to come into the league as well.
Whether it's overt or intentional is irrelevant. They've been given plenty of opportunities and pushes from the league to do better, and I agree they won't change out of the goodness of their hearts. But they might try to understand or do better with the threats of lawsuits and being hit in their pocketbooks. That's the whole idea of Flores' suit. I'm not where the NFL fits into the suit because it actually seems to be trying, but the teams themselves, if Flores can prove they are doing sham interviews and all that, more power to him.
The right thing? I’m sorry but Flores doesn’t “deserve” anything. If they feel he’s the best then that’s why he should be hired. And I like Flores as a coach
If I’m the Texans I’m trying to leverage the NFL anyway possible… whether it comes to a potential Deshaun trade, hosting another super bowl, whatever- if they’re trying to get us to hire Flores to take heat off of them. I’m pro Flores as well.
Well it definitely matters in some capacity. Sure lawsuits could potentially move the needle, but it's hard to prove causation for this in court.

Right. It’s an interesting thought, but I have zero faith in this front office successfully brokering a deal like this.
IMO It’s really between Gannon and Flores in no way can I see Caserio putting his reputation on the line by hiring McCown. If McCown isn’t on this staff in some capacity I fully expect him to join the jags coaching staff.
Terrible idea... Will look beyond horrible in the discovery phase of the lawsuit when the emails or phone calls come out that the Texans were willing to hire the black guy if they got a super bowl or whatever
