Right now I believe there are two minority owners. Buffalo and Jags. But if I’m remembering right there are several minority owners of color.

Sorry, then I guess I just don't know what point you're trying to make. Are you trying to say that the lack of Black owners is a problem or not? I mean, I agree that's a problem, but because the problem there goes so much deeper in how wealth has operated in this country since pretty much forever, it's not really a problem the NFL can solve. But the NFL can 100% solve the problem of the lack of Black head coaches.

Does this mean KOC is still in play?

    narrator:
Nick wanted Gannon or Flores . On the other side of town, there was a knock on Calhoun's door interrupting his Call of Duty progress. Calhoun had managed to cross Utah beach without using a med kit...

He’s not officially the coach and can’t sign a contract until after the super bowl. So technically he’s still available. Those reports about him being Minnesota’s choice wouldn’t have come out if he didn’t already accept the terms though.

IMO Mccown is gonna be on the staff. The HC will be whichever coach is okay with it between Flores and Gannon.

I don’t mind McCown being on staff. I do mind him getting the main job without earning his stripes. And I actually think he will be a good coach, so many players and coaches talk highly of him

I suppose the NFL can make it easier for minority coaches to get opportunities, but they can't force certain coaches to be hired, nor should they. It is a deep and complex issue all the way around, and I don't really think there is a quick or easy way to fix it.

Strictly speaking, are you interested in diversity, or are you just interested in black coaches getting hired? Bc then we are just talking about mirroring the coaching % to the player %, and I don't see why or how that is necessary or progressive.

I think what Josina mentioned about the staff is the Texans checking with Mike zimmer about DC position with Gannon as HC

Intentional tanking is very believable given the incentive structure for draft order, but the racial element is stupid and probably impossible to prove barring some smoking gun.

Then left to Philly and lead a top 10 defensive unit

I think this is very likely, every candidate who has options is turning us down. McCown is the only one without options so it will be him.

I think you and I are just looking at it differently. When I say "the NFL," the owners are 100% included in that group. As owners of the teams, they are literally owners of the league itself, so when I'm saying that "The NFL can solve this problem," I'm essentially just saying "NFL owners can hire more qualified Black coaches." I think it's that simple. That being said, I also think the NFL as a whole could do a better job of encouraging players to pursue careers in coaching after retirement. What training opportunities and coaching education is offered by the league after players retire? I literally don't know, but that's a solution I'd like to see pursued or improved if it's implemented already.

I'm interested in diversity, but not just diversity for diversity's sake. I'm interested in qualified people of color with experience getting the same opportunities as their white counterparts. But the fact is that the vast majority of football players at the college and NFL levels are white or Black, with the majority at the NFL being Black. Because of that, I think Black coaches are the ones more likely to be missing out on these opportunities than other minority groups.

That being said, I would be thrilled to see more hires from other minority groups if they're out there. I'm not dismissing the notion that there are qualified Hispanic, Asian, etc. coaches out there. I just think they're not proportionally the ones getting the short end of the stick when it comes to NFL head coaching jobs because they're far less likely statistically to play football at the collegiate or professional level.
