And this pick was passing on Kawhi & Jimmy Butler. But hey it happens, but easy on him because the Rockets didn’t have a clue either.

Say what you will about whatever, but I gotta say that I dig CXbby's writing style. That evaluation was a fun read, and it genuinely got me hyped for Marcus Morris (who did end up averaging about 20ppg in New York, surprisingly).

    Good stuff

Was Morris the one who said during his rookie debut presser that he was going to be Melo with D?

Thanks for digging this up. If you actually read it, my point was if Morris could develop into a SF, wing, instead of a tweener, he’s an allstar. As it turns out hes mostly just a pf. Also, thanks for caring so much about what I wrote 10 years ago!

Yes. Way, way more realistic, and turned out to be closer to reality than Green saying he will be Kobe with painted nails.

You still just don't get it. The fact that Giannis as 19 averaged 6 ppg on 51% ts and today is literally one of the most dominant scorers in our league history should tell you that your pigeon holing of what Green is limited to in terms of level of play when he's in his mid 20s is very irrational and almost completely fueled by self interest of wanting to be right with your desired draft selection.

Apply your logic consistently. If you did a potential evaluation of Giannis his rookie year you would adamantly conclude he would never be even an above average scorer in this league in a matter of fact condescending tone.

In reality it just shows that you were wrong about Morris and would've passed on Kawhi aswell.
Pointing out the hypocrisy of you constantly whining about Stone "messing up" and that he needs to be fired.

Just pointing out that your opinions, no matter how strongly you feel about them, are as worthy/worthless as the next guys' opinion.

I don't care what you wrote 10 years ago. I do care that it shows how incapable you are of assesing talent. You were wrong then and it's possible you're wrong this time.

It's not that you could be wrong that's the problem, is that you don't consider it an option. You're too high on your own evaluation skills.

I actually watched many full games of Sengun in the Turkish league and national team prior to the draft. As opposed to Marcus Morris, I was a kid back then, only saw highlights and was hyped as a Rockets fan. But hey, these people think they got some dirt on me, whatever makes them sleep better at night.

There is a fine line between being disappointed at were Green is right now at 19 and pigeon holing him to a certain level when he's in his prime because you are currently disappointed.

It's very reasonable to be so far disappointed in Green in terms of expectations. It's irrational to pigeon hole his ceiling this early.

I’m allowed to be wrong as a kid who didn’t know much 10 years ago on a msg board. Stone is paid millions and gets fired if he’s wrong and picks Marcus Morris #2. Or Jalen Green. That’s the difference.

I think people are telling you we won't know what the "wrong pick" is until a few years.

You are allowed to be wrong now also. There is no shame in it. It's just no one knows who's wrong yet based on half a rookie campaign for 19 year olds.

Christ, man. Did Green personally offend you or hurt you in some way? I've never seen a fan rip into a player so young on his favorite team like you're tearing into the kid. He's freaking 19 years old! Yes, he's been terrible. Yes, if he's anywhere near this bad in three years, he's definitely a bust at that point and worthy of being harshly criticized in the GARM. But you're looking at a 36-game sample size playing for a bad team from a kid who turns 20 next week.

I checked into this thread last night expecting to see fans congratulating him on a good game and hoping this would end his slump. Instead it's just page after page of you tearing him down and posting advanced stats that every Rockets fan already knows are terrible. There's a difference between being a realist and just being so pessimistic and negative that it drags down the collective optimism of everyone around you. You crossed that line like half a dozen pages ago.

I just hope (and I'm sure you also hope) that you're very very wrong about Jalen Green and that he ends up being the best SG in the league by 2025. That would be nice.

Stranger things have happened! Maybe. I'm staying non-committal :p

The difference is your double standard.

"wrong" (we don't know that yet) picks are made all the time and by everyone. That's the difference.

You're a lost cause. I think I'm better off putting you on ignore.

Giannis is not a #2 pick. For a #1 or a #2 pick, if they’re not among the top 3 rookies in their rookie class the outcomes are dismal.
Top2 Pick Stars and Superstars are all among the the top 3 in ROY vote, with one interesting exception. Yao, Bron, KD, AD, Ja, Rose, Blake, etc…
Some of the late pick superstars bloom after their rookie year: Kobe, Giannis, LaVine, etc
That;s the data. It has to do with the opportunity, shots, usage, minutes, attention given to the Top2 picks to show their stuff early on and distinguish themselves in the class.
