Aren't u a rockets fan? y do u sound piss that our rookie had a great game? Like it very mind boggling that we have folks like u actually upset/disappointed when Green does great. always so negative.
I think he wants to be right about something rather than rooting for someone. I mean there is no right and wrong but sure it sounded petty.
Let's see how Cleveland fares in the playoffs when teams scheme against your weaknesses and they start trading 2s for 3s. Remember we are trying to build up a team that can win it all (at some point) and this is a guard driven league so let's see how mobley holds up. I would have taken green over Mobely when the decision was made before the season simply bc you need a star guard to make it in this league. Mobely may be the exception to that only time will tell.
you mean trading 2pt MAKES for 3pt MISSES??? Like, 27 MISSES in a row? I don’t think that’d be much of a worry…
Do I act like I’m the GARM draft expert and get every single thing with the draft right? No. People going so far as to root for and celebrate Green’s failures so that they can gloat about the one thing they happened to finally get right. Dudes liked Mobley and then think they should be working for ESPN…doesn’t matter if they thought Morris was gonna be a superstar, Suggs who is even worse than Green was the best player in the draft and the next CP3, or that Cade was destined to be a bum in the NBA because he got his jumper blocked that one time while in college
I'm going to defend Reeko here because I was heavily in those draft threads as a Mobley guy. I said 50/40 Mobley...but that was his position starting off but as the draft drew closer he really did start to come over to Mobley, maybe not enough to take him over Green but it was clear his opinion on Mobley changed as the draft drew closer. Any ways, I was right about Mobley (so far) but it would be odd to like...hang my hat on it. predicting drafts is something not even the best scouts can do 50% of the time, to expect people online to do it is a bit unfair. I mean, i can imagine being that guy. I thought Tyreke Evans would be better than Harden. Oops. It happens though. I thought OJ Mayo was a future superstar leading up to that draft too. I'm sure I have a few misses. Also, I think we should all not thump chest on the draft for at least 3 years. Well, I'm not. I hope I'm wrong any ways and that Green is the next Kobe, wins multiple MVPs and a few championships for the Rockets before he inevitably goes off to play for the Lakers or something. Honestly this whole thing reminds me of the Texans forums the year they drafted Mario over Reggie Bush and Vince young...so many people rooting for Mario to fail so that they could say they were right. It was odd then and it's odd now.
The Green-ies just loooooooooove to tell you stories about late bloomers. Kobe’s rookie year. Zach LaVine. Now, Jimmy Butler. What they don’t tell you is that these are inevitably late picks. For #1 and #2 picks the rookie year is a massive tell. I went and looked through all the top two picks this century: if they don’t finish in top 3 ROY voting they are major disappointments or even outright busts. Your Lebrons, KDs, ADs, Ja-s, Blakes, etc: you know from the get-go. The only exception in 20+ years is Lamarcus Aldridge. Why is that? In a word: opportunity. Minutes, shots, usage, limelight, etc. Top two picks go to the worst teams and are given ample opportunity right-away. Your Jimmy Butlers had to work their azzes off in relative obscurity to earn that opportunity, but for Top2 its their birthright. If you don’t make most of it and show some elite stuff, it’s a very, very bad sign. The good news is that there is still a lot of season left for Green. Hopefully, this game will spring him off to, say, Top5 ROY finish. If not, I’d be really concerned. All the takes about how this is going to "take years to figure out" is hot BS, IMO. (It’s appropriate to say it for someone like Daishen Nix who’s buried in G-league, may very well have it in himself, but it will just take years to showcase it. Not for Green)
Defense is measured in weeks or months, but he has been improving gradually. He needs to stay bought in, put together a solid few weeks of defense at a time and take it from there. Really keeping an eye on his defense. It's probably the rawest aspect of his game when he showed up. His development has been slow but steady on defense. I have no doubt he can be a good defender with experience, there's just a long term focus/concentration ability great defenders have and not everyone has that. It's looking promising right now that he can genuinely be a two-way player.
Well, Kobe ain't LBJ, he did not win multiple MVPs. Chris Paul was a beast with NOLA that year as well. Darn, I wished Chris would have won that.
It's not a cult. It's about recognizing the potential of a young rookie player. This will give him more confidence. I want all our players to succeed. When the Houston Rockets win, we all win !
His defensive effort since he came back from injury has indeed been night and day difference and better... though obviously he still has a lot to work on there. I can't recall honestly a player as much of an enigma to me as JG. And not just because the Rockets drafted him and i want/need him to be great. He is legit either barely and NBA player or clearly a future star, depending on the night. Sadly more often the former than the later, but on the later it almost exclusively comes down to making a few shots and getting some calls, as size SHOULD eventually get better. My 12 yo asks "do you think he'll be good?!?" and i have no clue...
Unsure he's down on Sengun here. Both Green and Mathews seem to be annoyed with it being another E-Go iso. Youngin does need to clean up the body language though.
I just don't know how one can make such definitive conclusions about a kid who hasn't even filled out his body yet and hasn't even had his brain fully developed. These type of definitive claims are more reasonable when they have a couple of seasons under their belt especially when they are 19 and have only high school experience and a gleague bubble tournament experience which amounted to like 17 games. Watching Mobley and Green yesterday also showed just how much more space Mobley operates with with a superiorly coached team. Mobley got the ball in the paint with only one defender anywhere near him and plenty of space to operate. Green in this discombobulated offense always has someone like Wood or EG occupying his space to operate.
