Yeah this is ridiculous. He literally wanted to THROW GAMES. That's not taking. I think local bias means we are minimizing things for other teams that are crimes for the Texans. The Texans biggest problem right now is they have a bad relationship with the local media so they aren't going to get handjobs from them while they rebuild like they did with other coaches.
And yet they ended up with David Culley last year and maybe McCown this year. Is that the Texans' choice or is that other better coaches' declining to go to the Texans? We don't know, but teams in-demand generally can find highly regarded coaches. Is it that the local media can't find info on these things or that they don't want to burn the bridges their jobs depend on, while the national media doesn't care about that? The local media didn't break the Astros' cheating stories or the exec mocking that SI reporter, etc. They don't touch controversy out of self-interest.
Bieniemy wanted this job and couldn't get it. Flores has said he wants this job. I definitely think it became a tougher job last year because of Watson situation. I think this offseason the Raiders were clearly a better job and the Giants have NYC and a better history. But I'm definitely not convinced they would be beat out by Jaguars, Dolphins, Bears, Vikings for hiring.
If the Texans gm caserio is competent as folks claim he would not hire McCown. Hired an unqualified minority coach (culley) setting him up for failure to fire him To hire a white coach with no nfl coaching experience. (McCown) Basically doing what the Flores lawsuit is all about.
They are a dumpster fire organization right now, but I agree they were a mediocre to above average organization for years. It all comes down to how well his GM hire is and whether their coach is good. I don't like Stephen Ross. This isn't the first time he has gotten in trouble. Having said that, at least he did something stupid trying to better his team. The issue with McNair is that a lot of fans don't think he cares enough to to something like Ross did. Is that true? I don't know the man, but that is the perception at this point. Also fans have an appetite for tanking games if there is a payoff for it...... even if it is as unethical as paying your coach a bonus to lose games. As far as tampering by trying to meet the greatest QB to ever live to play for your team? A lot of fans would understand it. Ross is a scumbag, but at least he appears to want to win.
Well yeah, that's my point. They are on fire right now, but I think it's mostly because Cal bet on Obrien and Obrien torched the place.
Bienemy wants *anyone* to give him a chance. Flores wanted this job after the jobs he actually wanted and he was being considered for got filled (Denver, NYG). I'm not sure either says much about the Texans, honestly - he also interviewed with the Texans the day before he burned it all down, so that seems like it was his option of last resort. So far, we're 1-1 in picking a coach that literally no one else wanted. We'll see if we end up 2-2 or not.
Lol revisionist history on here. Bienemy didn’t want the ****ing Texans job last year. Tired of all the clown comments on here. “Ross just wanted to win” No, mother****er, he actually wanted to lose, he literally offered to pay the coach to lose games bc he wanted the first pick. He should be barred from the league. Geezus people, the Texans and Cal and especially Jack ****ing Easterby drive me insane but get your head right.
The Texans are in a grab bag with a lot of those franchises..... the Giants, Bears, Bengals can all sell to their fans that they at least have gotten to the Super Bowl if not not it over the last decade. The Texans haven't been as low as some of the others for as long but not as high either. I would say the Lions are worse than the Texans.... the Browns and until this year, the Bengals are worse as well. The Bears are a lot like the Texans, a lot of mediocrity overall... FWIW their ownership is absolutely hated in Chicago at the same level as McNair in Houston. The Jags can point to having Lawrence if you believe he is still the golden boy. The Jets have been pretty bad too. It isn't that the Texans are the Browns or Lions... its that they have made very obvious mistakes... I think fans are ready for some highs too.
Why did Ross want to lose? To get the top pick in the draft....... and he didn't want to meet with Brady because he wanted to lose games.
That’s my point. He won’t say that because he will lose his sources. Not today though, didn’t hear that one.
Black coaches generally have to be overqualified to get the same jobs as white coaches. Find me one instance of a NFL team "taking a chance" on an under-experienced black head coach. Really only Mike Tomlin and that turned out great. How many white people have been hired though that fit that description?
Ownership or the GM have stepped in numerous times to ensure that the team loses games to get higher draft picks. Carlisle the year they drafted Doncic let it slip that Cuban and Nelson told him not to play certain players. Morey did the same thing with Adelman. Is there a difference in not offering your coach money? Absolutely there is...... but Ross wanted to lose games to get a better chance at Lawrence. He should get in trouble and he will, but what he did was in the effort to improve his team long term. I agree with you that the Texans have a bad relationship with the media, but that is the fault of the Texans.
We’re literally talking about throwing games. If you can’t see how ****ed that is and why if true he should be banned from the NFL then I have nothing else to say to you on this matter.
But let's be real, aren't the Rockets doing this now? John Wall Tank Commander ring a bell? We are openly cheering it on to get a better shot at the lottery.
