Updates and breaking news on the freezing weather/ power grid -- looks like this one is going to be worse than originally forecast.
Just saw that Abbott is warning that their could be outages. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/0...43753986&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter Please remember the lessons from last year and prepare. To keep pipes from freezing keep your taps open a bit and wrap any exposed pipes with towels or blankets. Make sure you have plenty of water handy in thermoses or coolers (remember a cooler can keep the cold out as much as the heat). If you haven't gotten a good coat yet get one ASAP along with a hat that covers your ears and gloves. Make sure you dress in layers. Have batteries and candles ready. Also just saw that Texas doesn't require Carbon Monoxide detectors highly recommended one as people try to seal up their homes to keep warm and tax your heating system. https://www.google.com/search?q=co+...2l2j69i60l2.4185j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Who said it was going to be worse? I kind of call BS. I feel like the guy on "Seinfeld". Who doesn't want to wear the ribbon? But, I remember in Feb. 2011 we got about a foot of snow in North Texas and all the meteorologists totally botched that forecast. I mean...they weren't even close. Then, they were all like "oh well...we didn't anticipate this happening due to blah blah blah". Uh huh. So, I could see something like that happening again. Good luck, everyone. And, f*ck Abbott!
^ I've only been looking at CenTX forecasts not the entire state, but I was surprised by Abbott's statement on blackouts.
I'm prepared to build a snowman. I did go to the store. I have bottled water. I have ingredients to make Cubano sandwiches using the recipe from the film "Chef" with the marinated pork butt. It's going to be great. I'm not prepared to use a generator b/c I don't have one. I'm prepared to freeze my ass off and sit in the dark cursing if the power goes out. I do have a full tank of gas. Could sleep overnight in a heated car on idle in the driveway with dog if necessary.
Already down to 32 here in the frozen tundra of DFW. From now until sometime Friday, it's not supposed to get above freezing and a low of something like 10 or 11 degrees from what I've heard. Lord. But on the bright side... snow... yaaay. #prayersupforthepipes
