Last season I felt Wood was too good and on a different timeline given his age than the rest of the roster, and thought it was a good idea to sell high on him this year. However, I know once we see him gone this team is going to be historically bad. He is the only consistent player on this team, maybe besides EG who will also be gone? Every one else has not shown consistency of an NBA player and there is nothing guaranteed about them staying in the league, we assume they will be NBA rotation players because of their age. Looking at the box score of losses, which are most of our games, Wood is typically the one guy who put up a respectable stat line, imaging him not being there.... it is going be extremely ugly.
The really won't be too much of a drop off with Senguin, assuming he gets a little better. Right now, with the same minutes, Senguin would average about 15 and 8, to Wood's 17 and 10. Give Senguin a Summer with Hakeem and a weight room with Tate, and he could easily gives us 18 and 9. Senguin will contest more shots at the rim, but will get burned on the perimeter.
You can't extrapolate stats like this tho. He likely wouldn't have the conditioning to keep up the same production. Although I agree there won't be much of a drop off but I'd think he would be closer to 13 and 7
Senguin may be limited as far as rebounding goes, so 7 boards is realistic, but the whole conditioning thing is overblown in my opinion. Also, if Senguin gets tired, he would probably slack on D a little, not in the post. Doesn't matter if you're tired or hurt, you're always a little less tired and hurt on offense than defense. If Senguin actually got 30 minutes a game, he would easily score 15 a game, despite conditioning. Only way he wouldn't is he averaged like 6 assists with 13 points. I expect Senguin's minutes to bump up to 24 minutes if Wood is traded, and think he average over 1 point per two minutes.
More than just slacking on D happens when you lack conditioning. Your shot starts to be more flat and you just start to lose efficiency. I agree with 24min if wood is gone. And I think that's the sweet spot for him production and development wise. I could see 11 and 6 in 24mpg.
Stone seems to have a strong case of imposter syndrome going. Some insecurity there. Still think he's been excellent thus far, he doesn't need to worry about defending himself so much. As for the article, really pointless conversation. All rockets media needs major revamping.
According to sources close to Simmons, he's upset that Embiid seemed to blame him for last season's playoff loss, when Simmons did not blame Embiid for Embiid's poor showing in the playoffs against the Toronto Raptors in 2019. He's frustrated that Rivers didn't come to see him while he was training in Los Angeles last summer. Simmons doesn't dispute that he didn't reply when Rivers texted and called him several times over the summer asking to see him. But in hindsight, Simmons feels Rivers and the Sixers could've done more, like show up at a well-known gym in the San Fernando Valley where he was training. He's also skeptical, sources close to him say, of Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey's willingness to trade him because of his previous pursuit of Harden -- who can become a free agent this summer. Simmons would be the best player the Sixers would send in any theoretical trade. And he's upset that the organization is fining him so heavily after he raised mental health as an issue upon his return. SIMMONS HAS LOST over $19 million in fines since the season began (each missed game costs him $360,000). He hasn't cleared a paycheck since the $8.25 million (25% of his $33 million salary) that was due to him Oct. 1. Every two weeks the team sends a notice with an explanation of all the fines he has accumulated for failing to render services, instead of a $1.375 million paycheck. By the end of the season, if he does not play for the Sixers or any other team, Simmons could lose another $12 million. EVERY NIGHT AROUND 10 p.m., Simmons receives the team schedule for the next day. He shows up to shootarounds and film sessions when and where he's required to, according to a source close to him, to avoid getting fined for missing the team activity. But he rarely stays long or engages with anyone The COVID-related protocols that created an artificial boundary between Simmons and the team are no longer an issue. As an unvaccinated player, he had to take a daily COVID-19 test in order to enter the facility. But that requirement was dropped after sources say Simmons chose to get vaccinated. https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/st...er-saga-haunts-ben-simmons-philadelphia-76ers Wtf? How are u gonna criticize Embiid when u yourself averaged a pathetic 12 ppg that series and took a whopping 5 shots in game 7 against the Raptors? This guy is delusional and soft as hell. This is who some say the Rockets should make a trade for?
It's honestly baffling to us common folks. If a person doesn't show up for work (when healthy), why is that person surprised when he doesn't get paid (for services not rendered). On the mental thing, no one is make light of it, just merely stating if he's truly having the case of 'stage fright', then he should consider a different line of work. NBA basketball is a televised spectator sport. There's more to life than money and fame, he can go off to the sunset and find something he's passionate about.
It’s amazing how someone can lack this much self-awareness Does he not realize how stupid he would’ve looked if he had the nerve to criticize Embiid after the Raptors series when he sucked in that series and didn’t step up at all? yes, it was wrong how they tried to pin everything on him for that loss to the Hawks, but he’s just lighting money on fire at this point…what they said post-game does not warrant willingly sitting out the entire season and throwing away millions Simmons acting like he got Kanye money and will still be getting millions decades from now
Depending on what happens between now and then, they could have enough space for one max player, or even two... ______ Ferntits ain't paying two new max players -- c'mon man.
Definitely not a good look. But would immediately be most talented, best PG, best defender and only ALL STAR on Rockets. And would increase the length on team and jumpstart rebuild, overnight. Warts and all.
sure, but we’re a bottom 3 team doubt he’d even be motivated and give it his all here…we’re not a glamor destination, we’re irrelevant, and we’re playing for ping pong balls…this will be nothing more than a “I don’t actually want to be in Houston, but they’re the team Philly would do a trade with so I’m here” situation, watch
Oh yeah? 2023 Free agency: Rockets are happy to introduce our 2 new FA signings, Max Straus and Maxi Kleber Suck it. (Both are UFA's in 2023, no joke)
I've said this on previous deadlines but this is about the level of scoop that I find worth believing. Things like "these teams are interested in this player". Once we get "leaks" that talk about entire packages and mention multiple players from both sides it either sounds fake, speculative or like a deal that was once discussed but it now dead and that's why the details are available. Most if not all of the big deals in recent history just happened without any leaks building up to it.
