Nah, it's that he's so terrible at basketball he tanks the team and they get another chance at a top 4 pick.

They'd have no chance at that kind of pick if they had picked any of the better options....or just said "pass" and taken no one at all at #2.

If we land a franchise quality player in the upcoming draft, we'll have Jalen Green to thank for that.

Nothing. At this moment right now, he is a bad NBA player on all aspects. Doesn’t mean he can’t turn it around, I think he will, but it’s going to take time.

Time is not something CF is willing to give.

This is actually a really good one honestly, because it is the best predictor of who will be a good shooter in the NBA. There are very few shooters who are 85% from the free throw line but inefficient from the floor. If there's anything we can look at that will give us hope, it's this. If you shoot free throws this well, you typically will figure it out.

Had they picked Mobley, I honestly think this is a bottom seed playoff team so I agree with you. You maybe even have to reconsider whether or not you think Wood is a part of the core depending on how they play together. Then they have a pick no longer in the lottery. Also have to wonder what they decide to do with the picks they used on Sengun and Garuba. This team could’ve been shaped very differently.

The only hope now is that they do as you say and are able to draft a young stud and hopefully franchise player and then Jalen Green develops into a star level player eventually after he learns how to play basketball. Then you get a double dip. If Green develops and they get another great young core player with this pick, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. If Green doesn’t become a star and/or they blow this upcoming pick…well, let’s not think about that.

He's lost his confidence and isn't playing against G League bums anymore

Ok, I am going to lower my expectations and stop thinking of him as a number 2 pick but as a 19 year old that needs work.

Most of my issues with Green are where he was picked, nothing we can do about that now, but hope he gets a whole lot better over time.

Yeah I think it's certainly possible this team is a fringe playoff team if they had made that choice differently, but I agree that what we have to be hoping is that scenario where Green is so pathetic at basketball this year he lands the team a franchise player and then eventually develops into a quality player himself so the KPJ/Green/franchise player/Sengun? team can contend one day.

Guys like Beal, Lavine, Harden, even Kobe shot 40/41% their rookie years.

Green’s recent slump has him at about 37% right now. He’s getting more FTs but someone needs to help him with what to do once he has blown buy his initial defender.

He will go on a tear post AS break and end up around 40-42% with 15/3/3 which is about what should be expected.

When Green's on, he looks like a future star.

When he's off, he looks like he won't receive a second contract.

Clutchfans might have to face its ultimate humiliation, @Bobbythegreat being 100% right where 90% of the board was wrong.

He does create a lot of space with the step back .... but the mechanix are generally unnecessary.

He'd get a lot of milage out of a midrange jumper or a floater .... instead of making a deeper more difficult shot for himself. Let's start with the basics.

I prefer the scenario where everyone is partially right, where he looks just bad enough this year to help the team land a top pick, then he eventually turns into the star that some thought he was.

I think that would be the best case scenario for the team.

He’s been off for so long. Gets blocked going to the rim or bricking a jumper.

I wish the Rockets would also treat him like any other rookie. The high draft position skews the way they develop him and it might not be a good thing.

It is written in his contract? Why does he "have" to be out there?
