I can guarantee you that Cavs do not take Green. Cavs are loaded at high FRP guards acquired in last 4 seasons (Garland, Sexton). And JBB was quietly but calculatingly building a team with hard nosed defensive skill and attitude with length for the last few seasons. Drafting a 1 way player without length was not happening. But I wholeheartedly agree with you on Morey. Morey would trade his grandmother if it nets him a superstar caliber player. Morey had no trouble trading any of his 4 first round rookies or best vet players when he went after Harden. You don't sit on mistakes or miscalculations, you move forward. If an opportunity to improve presents itself, you don't just take it you snatch it up greedily and eat.
Quite a few. But here are the interesting ones. Wagner (ORL), Giddey (OKC), Cade (DET), Duarte (IND), Sengun (HOU) even Suggs (ORL). Above is limited to players on non playoff contending teams. https://www.nba.com/stats/leaders/?Season=2021-22&SeasonType=Regular Season&Scope=Rookies&StatCategory=MIN
No you misunderstood which of these rookies are on a championship contending team? Nice contributions by them all especially Cade - he’s running a team and doing everything on the court. He might steal your boys ROY trophy. Regardless none of these guys are on a team to threaten for a ring this year and maybe not even next year. All is not lost for a Rocket fan.
Hard for me to see them taking Giddy or someone else. I mean are they supposed to know Sengun is who he looks like and take him at 3? That would have been a jaw dropper. I mean maybe Green goes later but not much later. I remember the hype and I don’t think it was coming from just the media. But it’s clear now that Green was taken too high of course. However that doesn’t mean he’s going to be bad… just that he is needing to be treated more like he needs to develop real skills first that can keep him on the court. When real high lottery talent gets In an NBA game it’s usually obvious that their talent alone warrants minutes. So it’s just a big wait and see at this point. The big question for me is what these guys look like once it’s obvious the season is done. I think we’ll see intangible character come out in our rooks.
That's not a terrible outcome but not what I had in mind. I was just pointing out that he was very efficient offensively .... and they don't really run plays for or thru him. Not many people shoot 50% from the floor and 40% or better from 3 .... he's significantly better than those milestones - being short of 50/40/90 in only FT%. at 76% - he's got a chance to make it.... I'm not sure anyone affects the game defensively like Gobert ..... his length alone changes so many shots and opponents often forget about the paint and shoot jumpers to avoid him. If Chet makes that kind of impact, the team that drafted him will be happy.
The 5th worst team in the league (Kings) are a week away from trading two picks and two swaps for Jerami Grant. You hate to see it.
