This is ****ING STUPID....wearing a mask is not a big deal - I mean my gawd, we are not burning children in Auschwitz, this is just wearing a mask - I mean the WHINING of people about the simple thing of wearing a mask is absurd.

How ****ing selfish do you have to be to complain about wearing a mask?

    RIDICULOUS!

Instead of b****ing about it, explain to the children about how wearing a mask is protecting the elderly or the people that need protection to keep them alive - it is a public service thing to be proud of....

I agree with this, I think up to a certain age it's rather pointless to have toddlers wear masks because they likely won't be able to keep it on for a long periods of time no matter what, so you just end up with masks falling on the ground collecting germs, worn improperly etc. It just isn't effective.

But I also don't think having school aged kids wear mask is abuse, kids that age know enough to wear it properly, it's no different then wearing a helmet or safety goggles.

    My thing is this...

You already know what the rules are, but yet you still want to complain about it....

It's not like the airlines just started the mask rule yesterday, so if you don't like the rule.. Then don't fly..

So what is worse for a child’s development, wearing a mask during the school day, or being “taught” by a sub because their teachers are always out sick (or classes combined)? Masks or having school days canceled due to not enough staff? Masks or under qualified/no teachers at all because they quit for jobs that don’t require constantly being exposed to covid and/or having to deal with militant antimask dipshit parents?

The whole issue is whether masks cause "spectrum like" behavior/consquences because they can't see the other kid's face. I guess it's similar to having kids look at a screen for more than 8 hours which may or may not blunt social development skills yet that's an option some parents are absolutely fine with choosing.

If the parents are concerned, I guess they can spend more face time and attention with them after school, to help them recalibrate to how insane normal their parents are in reality.

I honestly don't know if masking even works or whether it's worth it for children, but since we live in a litigious finger pointing society, the real question is whether you'd sue the school if a kid happens to spread covid and more than a handful of them land in the children's ICU. They should've known better! Measures should've been taken and prioritized safety for our babies!!

I don't think school outbreaks are out of control...for now. But we like looking back and become hyper reactive after a disaster. People like looking for paydays after a couple of deaths despite putting the pedal to the medal before the **** hits the fan.

You're 100% correct. My wife is an educator and there aren't enough teachers to go around. It's very detrimental to the education.

Just curious @AroundTheWorld, and this is a serious question: have you and your family avoided catching the virus?

PPE equipment such as masks are probably a realistic pollution concern. I see PPE litter daily. I imagine that is a common experience for most of us.

*I still wear my mask(s) to stores and such but this is real thing.

Does anyone know how many people have died with Omicron versus the flu in the last few months?

Left nuts fail children more than right nuts? The Science sez so.

No seriously, Bro Jogan interviewed a dude named The Science and he said the exact same thing.

Halfway poking fun at you and your ilk, because it's very extreme to say wearing a mask is child abuse, so in that same extremists vein, you are an *******. But probably a good guy.

My 3yo and 6yo happily wear masks. No b****ing, no complaining. I think a lot of people complaining about masks for their kids are: a) coopting their kids for their own agenda or b) coddling their spoiled ass kids who probably stay up until they pass out every night on the couch after their dinner of Cheetos and blocks of cheese.

Are there exceptions for kids who have serious mental issues or have problems breathing (who shouldn't be in public school during a pandemic anyway)? Sure. But by and large it's ******* anti-maskers.

"Personal Freedom"? That is NOT mentioned anywhere by our forefathers.

Our Declaration of Independence states we have the alienable right to "Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness". Nowhere does it say anything about personal freedom. People take their right to life pretty seriously. Hard to do when some jerk kid is intentionally coughing in my son's face, which is exactly what happened.

The US Constitution says we must insure "domestic tranquility" and promote "general welfare".

Stop all this whining about "personal freedom" and show some respect your fellow citizens. It's not about YOU. It's about US!

    Mask the F up, snowflakes!

mic drop. :) Just felt like doing a little rant just for fun.. Felt kinda good. I welcome respectful dialog.:p This is a good conversation.

You aren't an ******* for saying you believe children don't need masks. That's a reasonable debatable belief.

What makes you an ******* here is equating it to child abuse.

I think you bring up a valid point about where we are at in terms of the pandemic/endemic and where we should draw the line at acceptable risk in favor of quality of life. We can't force people to mask forever, we can't force people to get a booster every 6 months forever in terms of just the logistics of that alone.

The child abuse thing is ridiculous tho.

    Yea, I know.

Nevertheless, it's important to keep reflecting on our founding values, all of us. We should push back on bad actors that try to rebrand America. These "patriots" constantly engage the Constitution so we should take them up on that and remind them, and ourselves, exactly what it says.

"Personal Freedom" is NOT an American value, as defined by our founding fathers. Liberty is mentioned but is a vague term fortunately it was clarified in the 14th to include "without due process".
