Bill Maher knew his ratings would tank after a Dem was in office so he’s doing this sh$t now as a tactic to go viral and troll people like Tinman. Maher's transformation from free thinking champion of reason to "get off my lawn" nimby is one of the more precipitous falls I remember seeing. Trump's election broke him, just like it did SNL, Colbert, and all the others.
alternative thesis: the Democratic Party really has changed for people who are in that 50 to 75 year old Democratic loyalist demographic who no longer recognize what they're seeing. That's the gist of Maher's message here and once again, younger progressive Dems ignore what he and other older Democrats are saying at their peril

It’s cute how tinman thinks that because someone criticizes a comedian they hate all comedians. Or that Elon Musk is a comedian? Not sure why his name came up. Criticizing a comedian for saying something stupid doesn’t equal hating a comedian or comedy…no matter how much tinman beats that dead horse.

Maher is just telling the truth that liberals now are a bunch of sheep like the majority of you here in this forum. I’m friends with many of the old school liberals who fought authorities and had a mind of their own, they can’t stand the current brainwashed crops of liberals nowadays.

I saw the piece and while I don't agree with all of it I don't think Maher has changed and I do think he is equal opportunity in taking shots. He's taken many shots at the MAGA crowd and just because he's going after Democrats I don't think makes him any more of a supporter Trump.
For someone who apparently loves comedians so much you’d think Tinman would learn how to deliver a joke once in a blue moon. I’ve never seen someone try so hard to be Carl Herrera but for Trumpers and fail to deliver even a chuckle every once in awhile.
It's pretty common knowledge that liberal media does better when conservatives are in power, and vice versa. Trump was steroids for the legacy media liberals. Now they're all floundering looking for relevancy. Maher's greater points about Democrats sucking isn't wrong in spirit, but it's wrong on substance. In his eyes they suck because of wokeness, that's only part of it. They really suck because the party leadership is too conservative and nothing but controlled opposition for Republicans and the entire donor class. Maher went downhill badly during the Trump years. Not only because he got brain worms and lurched further right (simping for Amy Klobuchar lmao), but because a lot of his writers left due to shitty pay and poor treatment. His show just sucks now.
