This guy says he doesn't discount the charges against Bienemy. Then proceeds to write an article that does exactly that. There's a big difference between being 21 yrs old on spring break and a he said/she said situation where the girl doesn't want to press charges and a position coach trying to coverup a rape one his his players allegedly did. (This speaks of Bienemy's character) I would've never hired Meyer either because of his covering up for Smith. (This also speaks of Meyer's character)
I dont know what being black has to do with anything. But the fact that both of them worked together in the Chiefs org and Poles didn't want to even interview Bienemy speaks volumes.
Unfortunately this is correct. A lot of social justice people believe that his color has been the biggest hindrance to him getting hired. But the fact that the guy he used to work with not only didn't hire him, but didn't even interview him is a BIG DEAL imo. We saw what happened when the Giants hired the Bills executive. He immediately interviewed Daboll, and hired him within like a week. The fact that he's got a ton of talent on the roster, and doesn't call plays, makes people question how much of their success is on him vs Mahomes and Andy Reid.
They would be wrong and lazy. There have been many African American HCs hired since Bienemy became a hot HC candidate. He hasn't been hired because when he was an assistant coach in Boulder he got caught trying to cover up a rape that one of his players committed.
1. He does call the plays Andy Reid said it recently 2. Weird how EB gets penalized for having Reid and Mahomes but countless white Patriots coaches get shots even though they have Brady and BB 3. Even if he didn’t call plays, it didn’t stop white coaches like John Harbaugh from being hired straight from the special teams group, or Josh McCown with no qualifications to be a leading candidate in Houston. how many unknown black coaches get a shot? like we have seen dozens of white random dudes that have little to no experience get a chance taken on them. Where are the black coaches getting the same look?
That will never change. Kingsbury below .500 at Texas tech then gets hired as a HC of a nfl team. That’s something you will never see happen to a black coach.
1.) Don't let Andy's play on words fool you, Eric Bienemy tells the play to Mahomes, but Andy calls the play. If you want to give that credit to EB go ahead, but EB isn't the one "calling the plays" in the traditional sense that we think of. 2.) I'm not penalizing him for it, I'm just simply saying that people wonder that. And when those guys were with Brady, they got credit due to being the ones who called the plays. I noticed you didn't mention the credit Byron Leftwich is getting... or DeMeco Ryans are getting. Coaches that call the plays get credit for being the orchestrators of the offense/defense 3.) John Harbaugh was a coach for almost 25 years before he got a head coaching gig. He didn't just get hired "straight from the special teams group" Bad example. I'm not going to say that there is an even spreading between coaching races in the NFL. But the concept that EB isn't getting a fair shake because he's black holds no water. Dude didn't even get interviewed by his co-worker.... is that cause he's black too?
To clarify: Harbaugh was an NFL coach for 18 years and never held a position other than ST coach and DB coach. He was never a coordinator in his 7 years in college either.
Nice second half for the KC offense. Maybe it’s better for EB’s prospects if he doesn’t have full control over that unit.
I hear you. All I was pointing out, was that him having that long of a coaching resume, and then getting a coaching gig, isn't that unfounded. It's not like he was a backup, retired to coach high school, then was offered the job.... Lol
I didn't know McCown was coaching high school football. So you mean to tell me that the Texans are scouting for professional football head coaches at high school football games? Let's go Texans!!!
Shannon Sharpe and Keyshawn are making an argument that Bienemy isn't getting hired because he doesn't talk "like white men". Not sure I buy that line of thinking. Bienemy is articulate, likeable, and persuasive when he talks. This isn't a situation like many athletes where it's hard to even understand them, or their grammar and diction are incredibly unrefined. I really don't think the speech issue that Shannon and Keyshawn are bringing up is the problem. There's something else, and it's likely the women thing.
