Started masking everywhere indoors again in December. Might go back to maskless in February. I'll play it by ear.

It’s mandated inside my condo to wear it in the hall elevators etc. otherwise just in the grocery store.

As long as I can signal how virtuous I am compared to clueless right wing louts and avoid being mistaken for them - I will proudly wear a mask.

There is a theory that the masks are actually going to make kids more emotionally sharp and keen. I think that has merit. Necessity being what it is, if you're forced to solve a riddle with 50% less info, you will find a way.

My biggest fear was always social isolation. I remember how often my kid would try to play with other kids the last two summers (esp 2020) only to be rebuked. It hurt watching that rejection play out in real time and having him try to parse it.

Another knock-on effect is increased screen time (vision and attention problems), more speech pathologies, and the anxiety older kids are facing due to their social lives going completely online for a stretch. It's just a mess all around and I am so thankful I didn't grow up during this mess.

I'm with you there. I think masking by itself isn't harmful to kids development. I would be more concerned about social isolation and increased screen time. But I think the fear and the need to deal with the aftermath of covid, including death, is more harmful. It's basically a negative negative situation with no good tradeoff. However, I strongly believe in kid resiliency, and having loving and caring role models around counts more than anything.

Thank you for being so virtuous. Make sure your breath is minty fresh at all times. Imagine breathing and smelling your halitosis 24/7. Here’s a cookie for you.

So does that mean you’re about to leave the plantation and coming over to my side? Some guy started that movement a few years ago called #WalkAway, I can’t remember his name?

Freedom baby, the most precious thing you have in world.

What in the absolute **** are you talking about?

I've felt this way since the start of the pandemic.

I just feel that there is hope for you to dump the liberal lunacy and coming over to the right side. You have seen these lunatics how they want absolute control over our lives. They will not stop until they have you bow and scrape to them.
