Agree, the optics look awful. Texans were accused of racism for how they handled Culley. Imagine the criticism they will receive next year if McCown's the coach during another losing season and Caserio/Easterby don't fire him. Not to mention all the other more qualified black candidates they would've passed on to hire McCown. Hiring McCown would prove they hired Culley just to be a black stooge/scapegoat and they had no intention of keeping him long term. I think the Texans could've hired Culley specifically because he was black and for PR reasons (only team to hire a black coach during coaching hire cycle).

I don't know how Texans fans do it. I've always been a big college football fan and would like to support the Texans but I just can't abide braindead ownership.

Texans looking for a yes-man head coach

this organization is done. Will sadly never be a winning org with cal at the helm. Save yourself some Sunday’s and avoidable mental anguish.

frankly it doesn’t matter who they hire. They could hire bellichick and it wouldn’t change a thing. Texans won’t make a SB for another 2 decades, book it. Just not an org that knows how to set itself up for success.

Could it be that others truly don’t want the job? Or is this an Easterby power play?

I’m on the record saying I’m out if he’s hired. I probably should not have gone that far, but hey, I did. It’ll either be a homerun hire or a complete bust. I will have no problem eating crow if it works.

Why did Calhoun have to inherit the organization. You give it to your best OX and get in there with the OX.

Likewise. I grew up w the Oilers and had already left town when the Texans started. I've supported them in the past bc they rep the H but over time, and this dates back to the Bob years, it's become painfully obvious that the ambitions and motivations of the McNair family and their cadre of good ol boys running the organization has next to nothing to w representing Houston or heaven forbid winning.

So I've found it much more enjoyable and frankly a helluva lot easier to root against this franchise and I for one welcome the hiring of Pastor Jack's bible school buddy.

Texans have legitimately become a cult. They have the adult version of Caillou running the damn team and an owner that is too stupid to realize how stupid he actually is. What a joke, never did I think that in my lifetime I would come across a worse owner than Bud Adams.

A lot of other players came out recently and supported the McCown interview

If McCown is hired, I will re-assess Easterbunny's power in the organization. It would mean he has the most power. Caserio has control over the players that are acquired and are put on the field, along with day to day football operations. However, Easterby...because of his pipeline to Cal...has the most influence/power in the Organization.

Don’t think guys would interview for the job if they didn’t want it, especially those that are currently with teams. Guess there is a chance they dropped out after hearing about the structure first hand but guessing an agent would like for people to know their guy declined vs getting passed over by an assistant high school coach.

If we hire KOC and McCown does KOC or any coach for that matter have to look over their shoulder if McCown is on the staff next year??

So players brought in by a certain guy or two are praising the new guy those 2 other guys have a hard on for?
That means nothing because of how calhoun and them boys do things.

A better example would be teams around the league speak highly of McCown.

Think he will even if McCown isn’t on the staff honestly. This will be the case as long as Easterby is with the franchise.

But what KOC worries about should really be the least of our concerns right now IMO.

I didn't watch a single minute of them this year. Went for long bike rides instead. Felt great.
