The fact that those are the "reasons" for it, positional requirements and whatnot, just further proves my point of how stupid it is.
But doesn't Doncic play point guard? Does it matter if he's fat? (or tall?) He still plays that role on the court. It would be dumber if he was listed as a "forward". Definition of position is a tricky thing these days, but perhaps the easiest to define is the PG, they are the floor general, the main initiator Perhaps they should have the ballot set up to vote in 1 Point Guard, 3 "wings", and 1 "big". That would probably reflect the way most teams play these days
The obvious way to do it is just get rid of positions, if you want balance, is 2 front, 2 back, 5th whoever the next highest vote getter is, regardless of position. But because we can't have nice things, the NBA reacted to the surplus of stellar guards and disappearance of traditional centers by... keeping the guard spots at 2 and having 3 amorphous big men/"frontcourt"players. Dumb.
CP3 has been better than curry this year, hell harden has been better than Curry as well. Check currys shooting percentages since thanksgiving
Curry is shooting more efficiently than CP3, I'm not going to check stats from a random date that's not how season stats work. Harden is in the east and can't start for the west. I love CP3, I am the original #TeamCP3 man, but Curry is averaging over 10ppg more. CP3 is still insanely good, deserves to be an all-star, definitely to start over Wiggins, but I'm cool with Curry getting a start.
So you see my point LeBron is listed a forward, Jokic is a C, both were selected as front court players (encompasses the SF/PF/C listed players). Both are their team's PG's. Why are they listed as bigs? Because they are big. Doncic should be listed as a forward he's 250 pounds, 6'7, and guards forwards. Doncic is a superstar talent, he might be the face of the league in a few years, and he's being benched so Wiggins can start. That's shameful
CP3 is the main reason why the suns are on the top of the west. He should be starting over Curry, draymond is a bigger reason for the warriors net rating and success than curry is
